"Why were you talking to her?" I ask my brother Brynjar. My twenty first party had just ended and my brother spent most of his time, talking or dancing with Athena.
He raises an eyebrow. "What do you mean? You weren't going to talk with her." He crossed his arms, staring at me. "You didn't have to be so rude to her."
I scoff. "Really? Because it seems she's jumping from man to man." I tell him. "First me then Philip and now you."
We stand a few feet apart in the hallway, glaring at each other. "You know that I don't like her in that way. I'm just trying to be kind after you broke her heart."
"So you're taking her side?" I snap at him.
"Unashamedly so. What you did was disgusting and horrible. She really liked you Julian."
I narrow my eyes. Liked me? How could she like me? She lied about who she was. She told me her name was Amy and next thing I know I've kissed the princess and heir to the throne.
Princess Athena of Astoan.
"She broke my trust, I don't care what she felt or didn't feel." I shake my head.
"What's wrong with you? You act jealous one second then curse her the next." Brynjar watches me, sighing. "I think you love her Julian, but you're letting your stupid pride get in the way."
I roll my eyes. "Maybe I do love her but she hurt me."
"You hurt her more!" Brynjar yells, finally snapping. "Open your eyes for one second and see that!"
"Ay Julian, wake up. We're heading out." Kenneth slaps my knee.
I rub my eyes, rolling off the couch. What a weird dream. "Everything prepared?" I ask him.
"Yep, we got it boss." He nods towards the door. "Donnie's already waiting in the car."
I groan. "Donnie's driving?" I liked Donnie, he's smart and resourceful but darn if he isn't crazy. The last place I'd want him is behind the wheel.
Kenny laughs. "Are you crazy? No I just had him load the car and he's waiting in the backseat." Kenny walks towards, spinning on his heel last second. "You're driving." He says, tossing the keys to me. He then exits.
Great, I'm driving. If only I knew how to get to where we're going. I grab my sidearm, making sure it was secure in my holster.
I exit the apartment building. It was rainy and the wind was blowing making it an unusually cold day for June.
I climb into the driver's seat of Kenny's Rolls Royce. "Alright, how do I get to Boxcord Lane?"
"Just head to the Brooklyn Bridge and I'll tell you where to go from there." Kenny tells me.
With Kenny's directions, it takes us twenty minutes to get to Boxcord Lane. We stop in front of an old warehouse.
"Lou is waiting inside for us." Donnie says hopping out of the car.
"Looks like this place was built during the Great War." I tell the guys.
Donnie laughs. "1912, actually. So two years earlier. I think it was even built before the Titanic sinking. February I think."
Kenny rolls his eyes, resisting a laugh. "Alright Donnie, no need to flex on us."
Donnie ignores Kenny and darts into the warehouse. Kenny looks at me. "Ready for this?" He asks.
I nod. "Remember, I don't want to kill anyone. I don't even want to torture anyone, let's just get what we need and leave."
Kenny and I enter the warehouse. There were old crates everywhere, filling most of the warehouse but in the middle of the room were three people, each tied to a chair and a bag over their heads.
Donnie was already talking with Louis. "Julian, Kenny, took you long enough." Louis jokes.
"What now?" Donnie asks bouncing on his feet anxiously. "Do we kill them? Or what?" He asks.
I notice one of the hostages flinch when he says that. "We're not killing anyone today." I tell him, motioning for him to keep his voice down. "I just want to talk with them."
I go stand in front of the hostages. "Take the bags off their heads." I tell the boys. They do as I say.
Two males and a female. Two of them had fear in their eyes when they saw me but the other male only had hate. I took his duct tape off first.
"Julian Kleinhaus. Go back to where you came from, German scum." The man snaps. He spits in my face.
I only laugh, wiping the spit off my face. "This will be alot easier if you just give me what I want." I tell him.
"What do you want this time? Money? My family perhaps?" He scowls.
I shake my head. "No, I want information." I grin at him.
The man eyes narrow as if he was trying to think what I meant. Then they widen. "No, I'm not going to tell you." He snaps.
I raise an eyebrow. "So you do know something?" I ask him. The man doesn't say anything. Smart move. "Just tell me what you know and this will all be over."
The man scowls again, glaring at me with even more hate. "I know just about as much as you. Someone lit the fire that killed your parents. They were scum, just like you and someone decided to do something about. I just can't wait for the day when you get what's coming to you." The man taunts.
I watch him carefully, trying to keep my anger under wraps. I exhale slowly, standing up. "Fine." I mutter.
The man raises an eyebrow, looking victorious. I look at my men. Kenny shakes his head subtly while Donnie grins. "Just make sure you tell them hi for me when you see them." I say.
"What?" The man asks. I pull out my side arm, pointing it at his head. His eyes widen slightly before I pull the trigger.
Blood splatters me and the other hostages. The woman screams but they come out muffled.
"Get rid of the others." I snap, already walking out of the warehouse. "And get rid of the body, I'll be in the car."
