"I will text you when I am at the airport."
"Okay be safe and make sure you wear your mask. We don't need you to get recognized, it will ruin the whole plan."
I hung up the phone on my sister and proceeded down the long gloomy driveway. Walking to the airport was not the best idea but when you are trying the flea the country has little to no commotion is best.
Luckily the airport was only a one-hour drive from my house meaning it should take about two hours to walk there. Who would've thought that a 15-year-old girl would be forced to leave the country and walk the airport at 2 in the morning?
"Damn it my phone is dead." Within about 2 hours and a half, my phone died but I finally had reached the airport. The lines were short and not much action was happening, so I was able to confirm my booking pretty fast."
"Hi, I booked a flight to Japan and I would like to confirm that everything has been transferred properly."
"Okay ma'am, what is your name and your flight ticket number?"
"Mei Sasaki, ticket number C36."
"Okay payment has been successfully transferred and your flight is booked to leave at 9 am. If you would like there is a lounge area on the top floor and you can relax until you board the plane."
I grab my single suitcase and head to the top floor. It was quiet and I was able to charge my phone and have a little nap. My phone is fully charged and it seems that my sister doesn't know how to be patient.
"Six missed calls, and 21 unread messages? Okay, sis, you need to relax." Within a couple of seconds of me checking my phone, I had received yet another call from her."
"Hey, I am at the airport. What do you need?"
"For god sake child pick up your damn phone when I call you."
"Well sorry, but my phone died on the side of the road and unfortunately they don't install outlets in trees."
"Well, I just wanted to make sure that you were safe and didn't run into trouble. Your plane leaves in 2 hours, so get some sleep and make sure you eat."
"Okay, Mom...." With that said she hung up and I went to the lounge area and unknowingly drifted away. Within 1 hour and a half, my alarm went off and I started to get more organized before I boarded the plane. My hair was a mess and smelled disgusting from the summer heat.
The women's washroom was spacious enough for me to change and throw on some makeup to look somewhat presentable. I eventually boarded the plane and thankfully I didn't need to sit with anyone and I got a window."
The flight takes about 11 hours to get to Japan and I feel as if I was never more excited in my life to leave Canada. I am Japanese Since both my parents were born there, we moved to Canada for business reasons and ever since then I have spent my whole life in that Country. I still visited during the Summers so I did have to learn Japanese and it has its advantages too.
11 long hours later the plane has finally reached the Airport. I walked around outside looking for my grandma and sister.
"Hey idiot, we are over here." I turn around and I see my sister leaning against the car with my grandma waiting inside. "Hey Iris, would it kill you to say hello to your twin after not seeing her for two whole years?" "Yeah, it will." I scoff at her and open the door to the passenger seat.
"Hey grandma, it's been a while how are you?" "I have been great dear, I have missed so much I am so excited for you to live with us." We drive to my Grandma's house while we tell stories and make stupid jokes. "Oh Mei, by the way, I got another tattoo. Look, it is our mother's name."
