Harry was still in shock of what he had seen just a few minutes ago. He was supposed to die. Dumbledore had been raising him like a pig for slaughter, as Snape had said. He also couldn't believe that Snape was in love with his mother. These were a lot for him to take in, but he had no time. If he didn't sacrifice himself, he would not finish what he had started. He had to go to that forest.
Ron and Hermione were talking when Harry came back. He decided not to mention anything about what he had seen in the memories.
"Harry! Are you alright?" asked Hermione.
"We thought you had gone to the forest," said Ron.
"I'm going there now," said Harry. Both Ron and Hermione were puzzled.
"Are you out of your mind? You can't give yourself up to him!" exclaimed Ron, angrily.
Hermione saw how sad and anxious he was. She knew that Harry wouldn't do this out of nowhere and that something was bothering him.
"What is it, Harry?" she asked, afraid of the answer she was going to get. "What is it that you know?"
"There is a reason I can hear them. The Horcruxes," said Harry. Hermione looked directly at his eyes as he was talking.
"I think I have known for a while, and I think you have too," he added. Hermione knew what he meant, but she still couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"I'll go with you," she cried. She couldn't hold her tears anymore.
"No. Kill the snake, both of you. And then, it's just him."
Hermione ran towards him and wrapped her arms around him tightly. She started crying so hard that every tear she dropped felt like he was being stabbed from his heart. He kissed her shoulder. Harry didn't want to ever let her go, but he had to leave. He left her arms and looked at her eyes, as if he wanted to say, "It will be okay." and turned to Ron.
"You have always been my best friend, Ron," said Harry. "You were the brother I never had."
It was obvious that Ron was holding his tears back. After Harry hugged Ron, he whispered something into his ears:
"Please take care of her."
"Don't worry. I will," answered Ron while leaving his arms.
Harry's feet didn't want to move. Hermione was still crying. He quickly turned his back and started walking down the stairs. He knew it would be harder to go if he stayed there longer. He was doing this for the future of everyone.
After he could see Hermione and Ron no more, he pulled out the Invisibility Cloak out of his pocket.
"Harry? What are you doing?"
When Harry turned around, he saw Neville.
"I have a job to do. It's a part of the plan."
"You aren't going to give yourself up to him, are you?"
"No, of course not," Harry lied. He wasn't going to tell everything. Something came to his mind at that instant. "But I just need to ask you to do something."
"Anything."
"I want you to kill the snake if you can. Ron and Hermione will be after it too, but if they can't manage to do it, I want you to be the one to do it, okay?"
"Okay, Harry. I promise I will." Neville said confidently. "I don't know what you are going to do, but good luck!"
Harry saw Neville leaving. He then put the Invisibility Cloak on and took the road to the forest.
