A disciple from Yunmeng Jiang Sect arrived in the Koi tower, he was greeted by Song Zichen and Xiao Xingchen and he said:
"Sect Leader Song, Sect Leader Xiao, this letter is written by Wei Wuxian."
He gave the letter to Song Zichen, Xiao Xingchen nodded and said:
"Thank you. Mr. Jiang please stay here and rest, we may need you to take back news to Yunmeng."
The disciple bowed and Xiao Xingchen said:
"Zichen please take him to a room and meet me here."
Song Zichen wrote on Xiao Xingchen's palm:
"Rest assured."
Song Zichen led the disciple to a room and then wrote on the air:
"Mr. Jiang, please rest, the journey must be tiring."
The disciple bowed and thanked him. Song Zichen left the room and went back to Xiao Xingchen. Xiao Xingchen used his spiritual power to connect their minds and gave the letter to Song Zichen, he said:
"Read it"
Song Zichen nodded and started reading, Xiao Xingchen was able to hear Song Zichen's voice in his head, Xiao Xingchen nodded and said:
"They want to talk about the box and they suppressed it just in case, it is indeed suspicious, especially with the manuscript we found the other day. Zichen, we must write a letter and call them here."
Xiao Xingchen and Song Zichen didn't want to be involved with bigger sects, so they agreed to only write a letter to Yunmeng Jiang Sect for the handling of the box and not alert all the other sects, besides, they weren't an official sect yet. They had no disciples and it was their mutual decision to accept disciples after handling the box matter. Song Zichen led Xiao Xingchen to their study room, he picked up some paper, a feather quill and ink, then started writing a letter, he was basically writing down what Xiao Xingchen was saying. The letter was ready in a few hours yet the Yunmeng disciple was so tired that they decided it was best to send the letter to Yunmeng two days later. They left the study room. Song Zichen led Xiao Xingchen to the dining hall and seated him on a table then he went to grab the Yunmeng disciple, they arrived in a few minutes, Xiao Xingchen said:
"Zichen. Mr. Jiang, please sit and have dinner."
The disciple bowed and said:
"Thank you."
He then sat on a table, Xiao Xingchen said:
"Mr. Jiang, I think it would be good for you to rest here for a while before going back to Yunmeng."
They were right, even by maneuvering the sword, the journey from Yunmeng to Lanling was taking two days and consuming a lot of spiritual power, the disciple was too tired to maneuver the sword back to Yunmeng as for now so he agreed that he should stay and rest.
Two days later, Song Zichen gave the disciple the letter and Xiao Xingchen said:
"Mr. Jiang, have a safe journey."
The disciple bowed and left.
Xiao Xingchen and Song Zichen went back to the study room, and they started reading through the manuscripts that they took from the treasure room. They were deciding which ones to keep to themselves and which ones to give to Yunmeng Jiang Sect. From there on, if another sect wanted any of the manuscripts, they could take it. They went through a lot of manuscripts through the night, they were both tired so they decided to call it a night and went to their rooms to sleep.
The next day was a big day for Xiao Xingchen and Song Zichen. Xiao Xingchen was excited as it was the full moon, and it was also the day for their three bows to officially become cultivation partners. They wanted to have a small ceremony, just the two of them without involving the other sect as the whole cultivation world already knew them as rogue cultivators. Xiao Xingchen was laying out the incense as Song Zichen arrived, he turned back and approached Song Zichen, he then touched his head and said:
"Zichen, really? Today is a big day and your hair is a mess."
Xiao Xingchen put the last bit of incense and said:
"I will do it for you, sit."
Knowing Song Zichen, Xiao Xingchen was already prepared. He had a comb, hair tie and a hair pin with him. He went out to buy some ingredients the other day and a vendor caught his attention, let him touch a few hair pins, Xiao Xingchen chose this one which was engraved with a snow pattern despite being a black hair pin, he bought it. He combed Song Zichen's hair, tied it in a neat bun and then put on the hair pin. He smiled and said:
"Zichen, I am blind and I am doing your hair, what will I do with you?"
Xiao Xingchen giggled, Song Zichen wrote on his palm:
"Xingchen, I really don't know how to make my hair, thank you for doing it for me, I remember the first time you did it."
Song Zichen then led Xiao Xingchen's fingers to his lips to show that he was smiling, both guys were smiling.
Song Zichen stood up and went to the kitchen to cook dinner while Xiao Xingchen made sure that everything was ready for the three bows. About an hour later, Song Zichen came back with the dinner and wine. They both sat and ate, after the dinner Song Zichen cleaned up and came back to the hall, he looked at Xiao Xingchen. Xiao Xingchen connected their minds by using spiritual power and they started performing the bows. Xiao Xingchen:
"I, disciple of Baoshan Sanren, junior brother of Zangse Sanren, senior uncle of Wei Wuxian, soulmate of Song Zichen, Xiao Xingchen, pay my respects to our ancestors."
Though he was mute, due to the fact that their minds were connected, Xiao Xingchen was able to hear Song Zichen:
"I, Song Zichen of Baixue Temple, soulmate of Xiao Xingchen, pay my respects to our ancestors."
They both prayed and performed the three bows under the bright full moon.
