The banquet went on without any further incidents. At the end of the evening, everybody was saying their goodbyes and chatting here and there. Lan Xichen approached Lan Qiren:
"Uncle."
Lan Qiren:
"Xichen, did something happen?"
Lan Xichen:
"Wangji and Xian will come to Gusu, they will bring A-Yuan too."
Lan Qiren furiously said:
"And you allow it?"
Lan Xichen:
"Uncle, Wangji has his reasons."
Lan Qiren huffed and said:
"I would see from the jade token, why are you saying me?"
Lan Xichen:
"I fixed Wangji's jade token as well as giving him another one. Uncle, you better go to the residence instead of coming to Gusu."
Lan Qiren:
"So, this is the disciple that everybody is praising, you both disappoint me."
Lan Xichen bowed:
"Uncle, I will take my leave."
Lan Qiren knew there was no stopping these two brothers no matter how much of a modal they were to the Gus Lan Sect. Lan Wangji chose to become cultivation partners with Wei Wuxian and performed the three bows in front of many clan leaders, there was no way of denying it, however, Lan Qiren had hoped that he could have stopped them or even punishing Lan Wangji more, yet Lan Xichen's support destroyed all the plans that Lan Qiren thought of.
Lan Xichen was walking back to his room when he heard a female calling him:
"Zewu-Jun."
It was Lan Rin, he turned around and looked at her, he restrained himself:
"Shengkaide-Hua, is something wrong?"
Lan Rin:
"No, just, Chang Ping won't come back with us, she will go to Koi Tower."
Lan Xichen bowed and he was leaving. Lan Rin looked behind him, blushing a bit and she thought "how am I supposed to speak to him?" She yelled again:
"Zewu-Jun!"
Lan Xichen turned to her, his face looked confused, Lan Rin closed her eyes, took a deep breath and said:
"I don't care the punishment, I want to... I want to... Zewu-Jun, I know, you may not want to hear this, but that day, when you called me for Chang Ping, I was flattered. When you ran for your life, and all the male disciples ran to the Cold Cave, I was the one who protected half of the Cloud Recesses and the lives of females!"
Lan Xichen's eyes grew and he said:
"It... it was you? Is that why only the male part was burnt to ashes?"
Lan Rin:
"Yes! I am not telling this to brag, but I... I heard... after the Sunshot Campaign, you looked for that disciple, they... told you that the disciple you were looking for died... I thought that was the best... I... evacuated some females, they... they found Hanguang-Jun, they... they were among the troops that reclaimed Gusu."
Lan Xichen was dumbfounded, Lan Rin sighed, turned away and ran to her room, not caring the thousands of rules that restrained her, she shut her door and sat on the floor. Lan Xichen watched as she ran, he took a deep breath, sat in the lotus position and started meditating.
