Chapter 16: Lotus Pier

Things had been calm ever since the battle that took place about a week ago. Jiang Cheng, Wen Qing, Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan were working on rebuilding the Lotus Pier as both the massacre that was committed by Qishan Wen Sect and the battle with Lanling Jin Sect did no good to the already half-destroyed Lotus Pier. Jiang Cheng huffed and talked with Jiang Yanli:

"A-jie, Wei Wuxian promised to help me rebuild and revitalize Yunmeng Jiang Sect, look what he is doing, he is in Gusu."

Jiang Yanli smiled and said:

"A-Cheng, didn't he go to destroy that Yin Iron shard? Besides, A-Xian told that he would be here by the time we harvest lotus pods, he wants to help."

Jiang Cheng nodded, he knew his sister was right, aftermath of the battle had to be cleaned and Wei Wuxian was indeed expert at dealing with stuff that had resentful energy, they even teasingly gave him the title of "The Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation" and asked when he would accept disciples to cultivate his way, then they all had a laugh about it.

A-Yuan was playing around when he saw that Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji entered from the front door of Lotus Pier, he shouted:

"Xian ge-ge is back, Xian ge-ge is back!"

Jiang Yanli turned her head to the door, saw Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji, then she said:

"A-Xian, Hanguang-Jun!"

She ran to them, hugged Wei Wuxian tightly and said:

"A-Xian, is everything okay, let your shijie look at you."

She looked at him and checked him head to toe then said:

"I will make lotus rib soup."

Wei Wuxian smiled widely, this was his smile that was reserved for his shijie only. Jiang Yanli happily went to the kitchen. Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji bowed to Jiang Cheng, Wen Qing and Jin Zixuan, A-Yuan was hugging Wei Wuxian's leg tightly, Wei Wuxian said:

"See A-Yuan, Xian ge-ge came back."

A-Yuan smiled and said:

"Ji ge-ge came back too."

Wei Wuxian picked up A-Yuan and touched his nose playfully, Jiang Cheng said:

"You are back, what took you so long?"

Wei Wuxian said:

"It is a matter we have to discuss later."

Jiang Cheng nodded and Wei Wuxian continued:

"We have to go to Lanling very soon."

A-Yuan sadly said:

"Xian ge-ge, stay with A-Yuan."

Wei Wuxian smiled and said:

"A-Yuan, Xian ge-ge told that he would come back, and he came back. Xian ge-ge has one more thing to do, he has to go again."

A-Yuan looked at him:

"Xian ge-ge, I missed you."

Wei Wuxian hugged A-Yuan and A-Yuan hugged him back. Lan Wangji gave a small smile at the child and looked at Wei Wuxian, he said:

"Wei Ying."

Wei Wuxian understood him, Lan Wangji also wanted to hold A-Yuan, so he gave A-Yuan to him. Lan Wangji looked at the little one he was holding then he took out two butterflies from his sleeve saying:

"For you."

A-Yuan's eyes shone brightly, he said:

"Thank you Ji ge-ge."

He then held both butterflies and started playing, pretending to be the two butterflies he said:

"I love you."

"I love you too."

They all giggled as they heard A-Yuan. Lan Wangji put A-Yuan on the ground and A-Yuan ran to Grandma to play with his new toys.

Jiang Yanli served the food, called them to the meal. Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji, Jiang Cheng, Wen Qing and Jin Zixuan arrived at the meal, sat on the table and started talking. Wei Wuxian told that the last piece of the Yin Iron was destroyed. Lan Wangji didn't speak as it was against his sect rules to speak while eating. After they finished the food and the disciples took away the empty plates and glasses, they started having a serious conversation, this time Lan Wangji started:

"Lady Jiang, Lady Wen, do you remember the box I brought to you?"

They both nodded, Jiang Yanli spoke:

"What is it Hanguang-Jun?"

Lan Wangji:

"I don't know, it might be dangerous."

Wen Qing:

"We didn't dare to open or do anything to it, in fact, I put some suppression formation on it just to be safe."

Lan Wangji nodded, Jiang Cheng asked:

"Didn't the box fall from the roof during the battle? I was facing that direction."

Lan Wangji remembered the purple light of Zidian as he caught the box that day, he said:

"It was on Xue Yang's hand."

Jin Zixuan asked:

"What does it have to do with Lanling?"

Wei Wuxian answered the question with a question:

"Didn't Xue Yang come with them? There may be a connection, or not, but we can't know if we don't look at it. We have to tell my senior uncle and brother Song."

They all agreed with it.

That evening, Wei Wuxian wrote a letter to Xiao Xingchen and Song Zichen about the matter of the box, he gave the letter to a disciple to be delivered. A-Yuan was sleeping on Lan Wangji's lap, Wei Wuxian yawned and walked into the room, he said:

"Lan Zhan, looks like my spot is taken."

Lan Wangji shook his head, he gently put the kid on the bed and looked at Wei Wuxian. Wei Wuxian said:

"Letter should arrive in two days, meantime, we will harvest lotus pods. Do you want to come?"

Lan Wangji shook his head as he remembered his conversation with Jiang Yanli, Wei Wuxian pouted and sat on the bed, he teasingly said:

"Your loss Hanguang-Jun."

The next day Jiang Yanli knocked on their door, she woke Wei Wuxian up, she said:

"A-Xian, we have to go to Lotus Lake."

Wei Wuxian woke up, yawned, he said:

"Yes, shijie."

He put on his red inner robe, then his dark blue robes as well as tying his hair with his red ribbon, he came out:

"Shijie, where are Lan Zhan and A-Yuan?"

Jiang Yanli:

"No worries, A-Xian, they are fine. A-Yuan is with Grandma, Hangunag-Jun is helping with the medicines."

Wei Wuxian:

"Where is Wen Ning?"

Jiang Yanli said:

"He was grabbing tools and supplies for rebuilding."

They passed by Jiang Cheng, Jin Zixuan, and Wen Ning. Jiang Cheng was putting on nine petal lotuses on the doors, Wen Ning was on the roof, mending some parts and Jin Zixuan was fixing a chandelier while sitting on the steps, Jiang Yanli said:

"A-Cheng, Zixuan, A-Ning, we are leaving."

They nodded and Jiang Cheng said:

"Take care of yourselves."

Jiang Yanli nodded as she left with Wei Wuxian.
