Chapter 3: Tough work

Ray's POV

"Order number 12!!" Martha hollered

It would make me so mad when she would yell someone's order because its so loud and especially first thing in the morning it makes me ears ring!

As I was frying chicken and putting some batter on some raw ones, Martha yelled.

I race quickly

"What?! Why?! What happened?!!"

When I saw her she was on the floor crying whiles clutching her right hand

"M...My nail came off! I sliced my nail....!!" Martha whined

I roll my eyes "You made It seem like something extremely bad happened!! Why are you even slicing vegetables in the first place?! Isnt that Nate's job?!"

"Well...Yeah..! But he...But he..."

"But he what?!"

"...But he is still in the bathroom so I wanted to help him finish the salad.

"Dont worry about him! Worry about yourself!" I say going back into the kitchen.

Martha gets up and adjusts the microphone

"Ahem! Attention all customers!"

All the customers stop eating and face her. I just give her an annoying looking. What's she gonna say now? 🙄

"If you all are eating the salad, please don't me surprised if theres a little bit of nail inside." Martha said smiling sarcastically

The moment she said that, the customers that were eating the salad about 12/20 gasped, screamed and left the building immediately.

I grab her collar and pull her to the kitchen

"Bitch! Why would you say that?! Just get a new salad dumbass!"

"Hey! Dont call me that word! I didnt mean too!"

"If you didnt, you would've left the salad and let Nate finish it but you so like wise decided to continue making it on your own without his permission!! Just bake bread for sake!"

Nate comes out of the bathroom "Hey!! What's going on?! Why is there so much yelling?"

"Nate, Martha ended up putting her finger nail in your salad that you were making!"

"What?! Really? Martha, why?"

"I..I just wanted to help...."

"And now thanks to her, we've lost about 12 customers now because they've ordered salad and think theres nail in it."

"You get so aggressive easily...!" Martha says

"Shut up!! I don't need this on friday afternoon!" I yell

"Do you all have plans for tonight?" Nate asks

"I plan to watch a horror movie!" Martha says excitedly

"Haha, I thought you couldnt handle blood and scream. How about you, Ray?" Nate says laughing and throwing the salad away.

"Mmm...I plan to go to a club tonight" I say leaning on the wall

"Ooo~! What kind of club?" Nate asks

"Yeah yeah! Is it a night club?" Martha asks smiling big

I nod

Martha grins "You should go to a Gay nightclub!"

"More like Gay Bar." Nate added

I roll my eyes for about the third time today!

"How many times have I told you guys that I'm straight! I dont like men!!"

"You dont have to yell at us. You're making it seem like you're homophobic." Martha says

"What?! No! Wait! Am I?" I ask facing Nate

"Ehhh kinda.."

I deeply sigh "Guys no. Its not like that."

"Oh it's okay. We were just joking." Martha says laughing. Same with Nate.

I frown

Martha notices me and stops, takes my hand and talks to me.

"But Ray, if you really are gay, theres nothing wrong with it. That won't stop me working with you. Hey, My twin brother has a boyfriend now and I'm actually really excited about that." She says smiling

"Yep! Same with me except my sister has a girlfriend." Nate adds and smiles

"Awwee...!" Martha says in a whiny tone

I smile and go to the kitchen "Thanks guys but I'm not. But thank you for the support."

Nate and Martha continue smiling at me and then continue their work

Okay, so I was actually lying. I'm not straight...I'm bi, but there was no way I was going say that out loud because some might judge me. And yes I was going to a Gay Nightclub. I wasnt going to tell them the truth because I knew they both will fangirl.

I will eventually but not now! And I believe the bar was called "Magic Wing" I was curious about how it is because they just built it a month ago in New North and it looks like its getting popular everyday so I'm interested...!
