"Here hold this one, just gotta put the beads on the end than you all done." Alana said as she was finishing the braids she was doing in my hair. "After we're done we gotta run to the store momma need us to grab a few things for the dinner." She told me.
We always had fun when we got together and did things as a family. Even though our family wasn't that big we were still close and liked to get together often. Us all having in common the fact that we could all cook and loved to eat, was probably why we had family dinners so often.
"Ok drinks, pasta noodles, tomatoes, and oh I almost forgot fresh raspberries." I said reading down the grocery list of items we had to get from the store. "Raspberries for what?" Alana asked as I pushed the grocery cart back in the other direction. "I'm making a chocolate raspberry mousse cake!" I told her watching her eyes light up. After getting everything we needed we paid for the items and headed home.
"Oh wait stop right there I gotta run in and grab something." I told Alana pointing at the CVS pharmacy on the corner. She pulled in and parked. "Be right back I gotta grab something right quick." I told her while hopping out.
"Aubury should be getting here soon so I'll just drop you off back home so I can meet up with him. We'll be back at the house soon." Alana said as I got back in the car. Once we made it back home she helped me bring the things inside then she left.
Nobody was in the kitchen so I thought I'd use this time to just start on my cake. After washing my hands I started taking out and measuring my ingredients. I measured 1 3/4 cups of unbleached all purpose flour, 2 teaspoons of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of baking powder. Next I measured 1 teaspoon of salt, 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa. I cracked 3 large eggs that I took out to get room temperature in a small bowl. After preheating the oven to 325°F I began mixing together all the ingredients, and putting the cake in the oven to bake.
"Yum what is that smell?" My dad said walking into the kitchen smiling as I had just gotten finished putting the last touches on my cake. "That smell of deliciousness is the smell of dessert for later!" I told him kissing him on his forehead. "Who said I have to wait for later?" He said grabbing a fork and walking toward the cake. "I won't tell if you dont!" I told him laughing. "Nope back away from that cake Xavier, after dinner." My mom said now joining us in the kitchen. "It was worth the try." He said putting the fork down, and kissing my cheek then leaving the kitchen.
"Hey momma!" "Hey baby!" My mom said as she was taking stuff out the refrigerator to get ready to start cooking. "So is the crew coming?" My mom asked referring to my friends because when she was cooking they always came by. "Well April said she's not gonna be able to make it She's doing something with Q's family today. Kai is coming, I just don't know what time though." I said filling her in. "Aww Ok we'll miss April and Quintrell, but good Kai can make it!" "Yeah she said save her a plate though lol."
