Chapter 7: Something to be Grateful

Ordinary day, they wake up and two of them will prepare breakfast.  From what they know, the meeting with the Paradis military will take place in two days.

They ate and chatted as usual and discussed the meeting they were going to have.  Maybe some of them feel their activities this morning look normal, but not with Annie.

She felt that something was strange, the atmosphere on their table this morning was heavy.  Annie watched her friends at the dining table, one by one until her eyes caught the awkward and unusual movements of the two people at the table.  It wasn't hard to see it, Annie knew for sure something had happened.

She noticed Jean who kept glancing at Pieck and Pieck who always tried not to look at him.  'These people.'  Annie was uncomfortable with what she had noticed, made her frown and glanced at the two of them.

Annie didn't even know how long she had frowned and glanced at the two of them, until she felt a hand touching her chin and forced her to turn to her side.

She was surprised by Armin who suddenly kissed a frown on her forehead, making her blink a few times and Armin who just smiled warmly.

Annie knows if her boyfriend has done that, it means that Armin understands what she is thinking. She understood what Armin meant and would stop glancing at her two friends.

"Ughh ... seriously? Should you do it at the dining table."  Connie protested what he saw.  Makes Armin turn to face Connie and release his touch on Annie's chin.

"You miss Your Rosa?"  Armin asked in a slightly mocking tone.

"Yes, I miss her. So much. Down to my bones."

Connie's statement made everyone laugh.  At least there was something that made the atmosphere at the dinning table a little less awkward and brought Jean's attention to Connie.

"Huh ... looks like it's about time I look for someone."  Reiner who never said that made them shocked.

"Wow, I thought you would continue to be crazy about Historia."  Connie responded with a laugh.

"She has a lovely family and I am very happy to see her."  Reiner retorted calmly.  Somehow it still looks funny to them.

"Hey .. You were dancing with Hitch at that time, right. How was she?"  Connie showed a sly smile.

Reiner tilted his head to stare at the kitchen ceiling and tried to compose words about what was on his mind, "Hmm ... She's okay ... and I could feel that she would easily push me onto the bed and I would never be able to turned her down. Just as she offered me to ask her to dance, I couldn't refuse. "  He turned his head back and looked at his friends, "And I don't know why."

All of them except Annie, suppressed laughter with Reiner's confused expression.

"Gross."  Annie responded to Reiner sarcastically and stared at him with an expression of disbelief.

"What? I just said what I thought."  Reiner defended himself and Annie just snorted while shaking her head.

Makes them all to burst out laughing.

Annie caught Jean looking at Pieck who was laughing sweetly.  And somehow Annie felt she had to do something.

Jean decided to clear the table and wash the dishes they had used.  Still in the kitchen alone, he sensed someone was standing in the kitchen doorway.

He turned his head and found Annie standing there with eyes staring hard at him.  It made Jean a little surprised, "what are you doing?"

Annie was still standing in the doorway leaning back, sighing loudly "What are YOU doing?"  Annie returned the question to Jean with one word full of emphasis.
