Cece is laying on my bed, staring at me as I play with her hair. It's soft as usual, and I do this to make her know that I'm comfortable with her.
She looks at me with the softest eyes; the most innocent ones. We both know that I'm way more innocent than her, and she's just playing for the sake of it.
Cecelia and I have been together for almost a year now- it's gonna be a year in 23 days. So far, it's been magical. Falling in love with your best friend works out sometimes. We've been good together.
We've also had our share of problems though. From the snarky comments of how a white girl shouldn't be dating a dark skinned girl, to those saying we weren't good for each other. None of that ever mattered to us though; I believe love can be found regardless of gender, race or age.
Okay, maybe I exaggerated the age part a little.
I smile at her, and she grins back. Leaning in, I place a soft kiss on her lips and quickly pull back before she tries anything. The grin on her face is everything to me, and I feel tempted to kiss her again, but I hold back.
"Meanie." She whines, and I push some hair back behind her ear, leaning in again, "Nevermind."
I place another kiss, but this time it lingers a little longer. Moving closer to her, I'm enveloped in her honeydew scent again, and when we pull away, I just stare at her again. We do this a lot, it's cute, but time consuming sometimes. I mean I love it but sometimes it just gets a little too much.
"So, our anniversary is soon." I begin, "Where should we go?"
Her grin disappears, and she sits up quickly, looking through her back, "Shit, shit, shit."
I frown, sitting up, "What?"
She takes out a flash, "Can I have your laptop real quick? It's important."
I chuckle, "Wanna watch a movie or something?" Giving it to her as she opens it, "The password is Cranberry."
She looks at me flabbergasted, "Cranberry?"
"What? You never had cranberry juice before?" I roll my eyes, "I'll get you some tomorrow. My treat."
She quickly sticks the flash in, and begins to transfer some audio files. I take a closer look and realize that these files are named: each having a specific number. I look at her, and she looks for the music phone, and plugs it in too. She begins to move the files there, and I give her a confused stare. When she's done, she reaches for my headphones, and places them around my neck, carefully lifting the braids up.
"Speaking of anniversaries, I have a surprise for you." Her bright smile returns, "In this phone, there are 22 Recordings, each leading up to the last day, which is our anniversary. Now I can't tell you what is on them, otherwise I'd ruin the surprise. But I want you to listen to 1 each day in chronological order, until we see each other for our anniversary. Got it?"
I push her slightly, "That's cute, you got advice from some?"
"I thought letters were just outdated, I mean, I'm not Leon."
We both laugh, and I nod, "Okay, Miss Cece, I'll accept your little game."
She gives me the phone and kisses my palm, "Much appreciated."
