there was once a girl
with a wounded heart
who was shown love in unkind manners
which she internalized while yearning for better

there was once a boy
with a wounded soul
he had been through the unkind things too,
and did his best to make it through

a likely pairing, they were
two broken children trying to mend each other's hearts
though broken they were, they convinced each other that things would get better
that they would get through this together

but the boy had a temper
and the girl had problems that he could not settle
and so they fell apart
