I decided to find a hotel room for the night. Driving another two hours would have been too risky. The drive to the hotel was blurry enough. Not to mention, I've been crying, I'm so tired and its 2am. I found a hotel near by, parked my car and made my way to the reception with my suitcase in hand. The hotel looks really nice. The lobby is very large and open and the reception desk was long. Theres even a chandelier hanging in the centre. Very fancy.
'Avery?' I heard a voice call out in confusion
'Matt..' Of course. What else.
'What are you doing here? Are you ok?'
'Just.. Getting a room' I tried to be chippy. He frowned and watched me. He can tell something is wrong. I'm not very good at hiding my feelings. 'What are you doing here?'
'We are staying here.. The bridal party...' I nodded and smiled 'You sure you're okay?'
'Yes, absolutely' I lied again 'Excuse me, I've got to get a room. Im exhausted'
'Wait.. Ive got a room to myself. Just come stay there the night'
'Oh no, its fine, thank you'
'Come on, better than paying a whole room for no reason'
'No, no.. It would be a little weird, don't you think?'
'Its not like we will sleep in the same bed' He laughed 'My room has two bedrooms' He looked at me with reassurance. It took me a minute to decide 'Come on, its okay' He grabbed the suitcase out of my hands and started walking, not giving me time to decline. We went up to the room, which is on the 20th floor, and my jaw dropped as he opened the door. This room is amazing! The large dining table by the large windows. The marble kitchen. The huge TV and leather couches. It looks very expensive. 'You like it?'
'Its more than enough..' I looked at him, smiling 'I can't thank you enough' He smiled back
'Don't stress about it. Ill, uh.. Let you get some sleep'
'Thanks Matt. Goodnight'
'Goodnight, Avery'He said as he closed my bedroom door. He is such a gentleman. Alex use to be the same. Why do all my relationships end in the boyfriend changing for the worse! Okay so Alex is really my only serious, long term relationship but still.
I had brushed my teeth and got bed ready. I reached into my bag to grab my phone and charger... 23 missed calls from Alex. 23! And 8 text messages:
'Avery pick up'
'Please answer we need to talk'
'We can't break up like this Avery'
'You're worrying me babe please'
'AVERY'
'Look I'm sorry I haven't been the guy you fell in love with I'm sorry. Please come back or call or whatever please. I need to know you're okay!'
'Avery please understand I love you. Im just finding long distance is difficult for me. Please I don't want this to end. I can't let this end'
'I love you Avery'
I should at least message I'm okay. Should I? I really don't want to speak to him though. I don't know what to do! We don't really fight so this is a whole new ballpark for me. He's also never acted this way before. No, I should stand my ground, at least for tonight. He admitted in the text he hasn't been himself so whats up with him. I think I just need a few days to calm down and then we can talk.
*RING RING*
He's calling again. Ugh its 3 in the morning and I just want to sleep. Maybe I should answer and tell him we can talk when I'm ready. That way he can just back off.
