'Ive found the most amazing place, Danny. Listen to me' Dylan shoved a real estate book in my face.

'Dylan, I'm trying to work these sales out... Please. This can wait'

'No..' He shut my laptop 'The sales can. why are you not excited about moving in together? Do you not want to?'

'Uh.. Its not that I don't want to Dylan... Its the fact that... Look, I have two small children. I don't think... I don't think you fit the 'Step Dad' role. Im sorry' I actually just threw the 'Step Dad' topic out there.

'Okay. Danny, you've been weird lately. Whats wrong'

'I just don't think moving in is a good idea... I think I want to take time off work too. Just be with the kids... Ive been thinking about moving back in with my mum'

'Danny! Are you nuts! Is it that time of month? Cause this is just crazy talk'

'No, its not crazy! Its perfectly sane! Its the most sane I've been since I got divorced. Okay. So just... Chill out for a second' I stormed out of the office. I have to call someone... I cannot take this anymore.

Alex's POV:

We sat on the sofa chairs watching Avery's mum peacefully sleep. There hasn't been much of an update. Avery talks to her all the time. But I won't let her spend the night here, alone. Especially with that 'cute' doctor, Parker. I see how he is with Avery. And it actually makes me jealous and annoyed. I saw him look at her when I was introducing myself... I think he expected a 'Im Avery's Dad'... Jeez. I probably could be, age wise. Argh, don't think about it, Alex.

*RING RING*

'Danny, hey' I whispered and Avery lifted her head from my shoulder 'Whats wrong?... Right now?... Dinner?' I looked at Avery 'Can we do an earlier dinner, I can't be out too late tonight... Hows 5?.. Great. See you there'

'Dinner plans?' She said calmly

'Yeah, she sounded a little anxious. You okay with that?'

'Of course' she laughed

'Ill be like an hour, 2 max... We can watch a movie tonight?'

'Okay' She smiled and placed her head back on my shoulder.

-----------------------------------------------------------

'Im meeting someone her- Ah, just there' I pointed to Danny, who was sitting outside against the fence.

'Go right through, Sir'

'Hey' I said as I sat down.

'You came' She laughed.

'Well, of course'

'I didn't think you were. You're 10 minutes late'

'Same old Danny' She scrunched her nose.

'Im just saying... I thought you were going to stand me up...' She looked around 'Do you remember this restaurant?'

'I do... I haven't been back since, to be honest. We never did come back'

'It was quite an eventful evening' We synced in laughter.

'I don't think talking about the restaurant is what you were aiming for tonight' I turned serious. I am interested in what she really wanted to talk about. She began talking about Dylan. I saw this coming. I honestly don't want to hear about him but Danny and I are on good terms and I still love her very much, its just the respect and trust thats gone. She doesn't really have anyone to really open up to. Maybe she feels I'm really the only one here for her, I want to stand by that. But man, it makes me so mad when she does talk about having problems with him. This is the guy you cheated on your husband and your family with. It still hurts.
