*Wednesday morning*

The intelligence unit were sat minding their own business when hank strolled into the bullpen looking determined, more so than usual, "listen up, we've got a ticking drug case on our hands" he sighed and slapped a picture of a young girl onto the board, he peeled another picture out of his case file and slapped it onto the board next to the young girls mugshot. Hank took a deep breath before continuing, "the man goes by the name Norman Jackson, he's a big seller, moves product up and down the country not just the state" he huffed and stuck some kind of marked out map below the images. The team all sat up straighter, this seems like it's gonna be a difficult case...

He nodded before carrying on, "he's working alongside 5 other men and he's also working through his 14 year old daughter" he nodded, "this, is hazel jackson, she's got quite the reputation on the streets according to her record, her dad buys the drugs and she sells it through her school, the streets, and whatever he requires" he pointed to the kid.  The team widened their eyes, 14? The kid looks at least 18...

Adam shook his head, "school? Does she not get caught?" He tilted his head in confusion, selling drugs isn't really a secretive task. Hank shook his head, "that's the thing, she goes to northside" he put another picture up on the board. Kim shook her head, "what's northside?" She sighed. Hailey nodded, "it's a school for bad kids, I'm pretty sure they're always getting in trouble with the governors" she shrugged. Hank nodded, "exactly that, she sells the drugs and no one suspects a thing. That's angle we're playing at" he pointed to the board. They all nodded supportively now that they're on board, "what's this reputation she upholds?" Kevin folded his arms.

Hank passed everyone a case file copy, "popped for possession 3 times, underage drinking, arrested for drug-related texts. Uh, 3 months in juvie for covering up her dad's wrong-doings" he sighed. They all looked at the file, god, the kid has been arrested three times before she even became a teenager, "she's pretty jammed up" jay sighed. Hank nodded, "she is, which is why she's gonna help us arrest her dad" he shrugged.  They all looked around at each other in sadness, cases like these never end well.  They talked some more about the situation, "halstead, you're going undercover inside of the school. Try talk to her but don't seem too pushy" hank shrugged.  Jay looked up from the file and nodded, "got it" he smiled weakly before hailey grabbed the newest case file off Kim, "what kind of father would put their kid through this?" She huffed.  Jay drew his lips into a thin line and shrugged, "a bad one" he sighed.

A few hours later jay was walking up to the school's entrance, once thing which caught his eye was the security around this place, god the kids must be bad... He took a deep breath then opened the door before standing in the foyer and buzzing the door, after a few seconds he was let in so he walked into the reception to meet the lady's at the front desk, "name and ID please" the lady kept a straight face, probably tired of putting up with the children's attitudes all day. Jay nodded, "ryan Miller" he smiled weakly and passed her his fake ID. She scanned it in the system before handing him it back with a clip, "make sure you're wearing this at all times, the principal would like to see you first" she nodded and let him through the next set of doors. He smiled and nodded before clipping it onto his shirt pocket then walked through the glass doors to go meet the head teacher of this special, special school...

He was called into a rather smart looking office as a tall man stood up to shake his hand, "nice to meet you, I'm Dan" he nodded, jay smiled back and accepted the handshake, "Ryan" he nodded.  The principal sorted out his blazer jacket before smiling and sitting back down, he signalled for jay to take a seat so the detective done so, "so, I've had a good look over your records. You've had experience with roudy kids before, ey?" He smiled.  Jay laughed a little and nodded, "I used to work as a detention officer, I've handled all kinds" he smiled.  The principal nodded, "I have no doubt in your abilities, but I will pre-warn you, they are difficult to control at times. The girls are usually the worst for attitude" he smiled and laughed.  Jay nodded, "oh I bet they are" he smiled back.  The principal nodded in agreement, "I was thinking of placing you in the 10th grade class but they're beyond help, the 8th graders just need a little push in their behaviour, I'm sure you'll help greatly in that class" he sighed.  Jay nodded thankfully, that's the class he needs, that's hazels class, "sounds good to me" he smiled.

The pair found themselves walking down the school corridor and towards the 8th grade classroom, the kids were currently in biology but they were still waiting on their real teacher to get back from paternity leave, so that could only mean one thing, a substitute... The principal opened the door as the kids heads snapped in that direction, it didn't take long for jay to spot hazel who was sat in the back corner with her hood up and her ear phones in, it looked like she was the only one who didn't realise they had joined them, "we can stand at the back for now" the head teacher nodded.

As they made their way down the gap in the desks the headteacher stopped next to hazels desk, he tapped her paper to gain her attention. She looked up in confusion but sighed and took her earphones out and her hood down before paying attention to the lesson again, "the kids stay in the same classroom all day, the 8th graders currently can't be trusted. The two boys at the front thought it was funny to set a fire to a teddy bear in the boys toilets last week" the head teacher lead jay to the back of the class. Jay just nodded, okay maybe he can see why the kids te here...

At the end of the class the substitute teacher left which gave them a chance to meet jay, "alright guys, I want you to meet mr Miller. He's gonna be the new assistant who'll be staying with you at all times. I want your best behaviour alright, I mean it" he pointed at them all as the pair made their way to the front.  They all nodded and smiled at jay, but jays eyes went straight to the person he was there for, hazel.  She was sat in the back minding her own business for now, she had long wavy brown hair, icy blue eyes and many many freckles, she looks even older in real life, god what are they feeding kids these days...

After a few seconds the headteacher left jay with the kids and they all just stared at him, "You can just call me Ryan" he cleared the air.  They all smiled and nodded before introducing themselves, everyone said their name with a small nod until it got to hazel, "I'm hazel" she smiled and waved, jay smiled back, "nice to meet you all" he added to make his stay seem less suspicious.  He stuck around at the front for a while before he noticed hazel getting up, she walked over to the front of the class before throwing a piece of paper in the bin, "are you staying permanently?" She smiled and stopped at jay before walking back to her seat with a new sheet in her hand.  Jay shook his head, "just for a few weeks" he lied.  Hazel smiled and nodded before walking back to her seat.

But before she sat back down she flicked one of the boys heads with her hair tie, making sure to hit him right on the temple, "ow!" He grabbed her head and pulled her into a headlock.  Jay simply watched them, at first he thought it was serious, but when he saw the laughs coming from both kids he knew they were just playing, "get off me" she squeezed his arm so he let go, "you're so soft, awww" she pointed a finger in his face. The boy, going by the name josh, grabbed her finger and twisted it around, "shut up" he narrowed his eyes at her before letting her go. She rolled her eyes then sat back down and went back on her phone. Jay shook his head with a small smile on his face, he remembers being a teenager...

The kids were simply chatting since it was their break time, "sir?" One of the boys nodded. Jay was obviously going to have to get used to this new 'sir' thing for a while, he just nodded, "have you previously worked in a school like this?" The kid added. Jay smiled and shook his head, "nope, I worked in a detention centre for young people, like you" he explained his false past. The kid nodded, "so you know how kids get into places like this?" He smirked a little. Jay just shrugged, "I've heard of a few reasons, yeah" he smiled slightly. One of the girls who was sitting on hazels desk smiled, "wanna know how we got in here?" She laughed a little. Before jay could even answer they were all happily telling him, "I used to start frights, she used marijuana in the toilets, Luke vapes in class..." one of the louder boys blurted out.

Jay was astonished by their reasons but once it got to hazels he listened in, "oh you can't forget hazel, she sold coke in the bathroom. Stupid decision really..." the girl sat on hazels desk smirked. Hazel looked up at her, "shush" she slapped the girls arm before looking back down to her phone. It was in that moment jay knew she wasn't proud of what she's done, or what's she's being forced to do, but that's why he's here, to help her. He just nodded, "well hopefully you've all realised that there's still time to change" he smiled weakly which seemed to make the kids nod hopefully, all but hazel, she just seemed unhappy to be here...
