Dr Charles walked into the conference room the trio were in and sat down opposite the teenager, hailey and jay had already talked to the psychiatrist about everything she's been through, or what they know of anyways. The detectives left hazel alone with the doctor and let them chat, they sat in the waiting room just thinking about everything that's happened today.
Dr Charles smiled, "so how are you feeling right now?" He nodded. Hazel shrugged sadly, "I don't know really, I'm still taking it all in I think. But to be fair, it doesn't really matter about how I feel. I just wanna sleep" she shrugged again. Dr Charles frowned, "what makes you say that?" He tilted his head. Hazel looked up at him, "I'm on the other side, and once you're on the other side there's no going back" she shook her head. Dr Charles nodded sadly, "you see, I don't think you are on this other side just yet" he sighed quietly. Hazel shook her head, "believe me, I am. I stepped over the lines many years ago, lines that I can't even see anymore" she huffed, her anger beginning to overspill. Dr Charles nodded, "what do you mean by that?" He frowned.
Hazel smiled sadly through watery eyes, "I'm saying that I've been through more than just this, so I'll be just fine" she shrugged. Dr Charles nodded, "you mean things like this have happened before?" He smiled weakly. Hazel nodded, "pretty much" she shrugged. Dr Charles nodded, "you wanna tell me what's happened before?" He smiled hopefully. Hazel shrugged, "sure why not? Let me see, when I was 6 I was kidnapped, when I was 8 I was sold for drugs, when I was 9 I got kidnapped again and ever since then I've been caught up in way too much, I don't even remember half of it. This whole life things stupid. And who does my dad think he is? I..." she huffed and looked away as anger took its toll, so much so her answer came out a lot more snappier than intended, angry tears making their way down her cheeks. Dr Charles just stared at her in shock, "that's a lot of weight to carry around hazel" he nodded carefully. Hazel shrugged, "I just ignore it" she looked out of the window to see her mom talking to the detectives she now trusts.
Dr Charles had no other choice but to end the mini session now as her mom came walking into the room, "haz..." she pulled her daughter into a hug. Jay was right behind them and he half expected hazel to have a more excitement in reaction but she didn't, she looked disappointed. Hailey interrupted and grabbed the moms attention as she lead her out of the room again. Jay looked over to the kid, "you alright? You looked a little nervous" he smiled sadly as dr Charles walked off to go talk to hazels mom. Hazel nodded, "I haven't seen her in a year. It's just kind of overwhelming that's all" she shrugged. Jay nodded, he understood where she was coming from since they were all moving so quick with this.
About half an hour later hazel found herself sat in her moms car waving to jay and hailey as her mom drove away, "so honey, what are we fancying for a midnight snack?" Her mom grabbed her attention. Hazel furrowed her brows, "I was thinking cheese and crackers" her mom, who's called Stacey, added. Hazel shook her head, "Uh, sure?" she smiled weakly. Stacey sighed, "no it's fine m'dear, I can find something else if you don't like that" she shrugged and kept her eyes on the road. It's still a little bitter between them, Stacey stopped looking after hazel when Norman took over and became controlling so hazel held a grudge against her mom for leaving her in the living environment Norman supplied her with. But why's she being so random? So nice...
They arrived home and hazel was introduced to her half sister who's now 1 and her step dad who's newly married to Stacey. He seemed like a nice guy, maybe a little creepy at times, but he seemed nice enough and her little sister didn't seem too annoying, maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all. She was shown around and given time to settle in, here's to a new life...
