*two months later*
"You're terrible at this" hazel chuckled as jay merely missed her with the dodge ball once again, she was laughing so much she accidentally let her guard down, and the next thing she saw was a ball flying straight for her. She squealed loudly but fell over as the ball collided with her at full speed, but luckily it didn't hurt too much. Jay chuckled in response but helped her up, "is that so?" He ruffed her hair up. She smiled but looked over at Will, "I saw nothing" the red head continued to aim his own dodge balls at the pair. Hailey shook her head in amusement from her place behind the barbecue.
"Alright alright, that's enough children. Dinners ready" Natalie shook her head too as she grabbed the last sausage from the grill, leaving hailey to close the lid. Hazel laughed as she tried to race jay to the burgers, "slow poke" she slid in front of him in the line. Jay gasped, "no dessert for you" he wrapped his arm around the from of her shoulders. Hazel smiled at hailey, "you wouldn't let him do that would you?" Hazel smirked. Hailey shrugged, "never in a million years" she winked, also giving jay a small appreciative smile. Jay sighed as hazel went to pinch his burger, "only kidding, can't leave you starving can I?" She stuck her tongue out at him. Jay chuckled but nudged her arm as she trudged off to go sit with Owen by the hammocks.
Natalie smiled as she clutched her gin and tonic, moving closer to hailey, once everyone had grabbed their food. Hailey looked up and smiled, the pair of them stood watching their kids, "jays great with her, and she looks at you like she found gold" Natalie hummed. Hailey smiled, "she's a really good kid" she nodded. Natalie smiled widely, "how's she doing?" She took a sip from her glass. Hailey nodded, "she's getting there, it's only been these past few weeks that she's starting to gain her confidence back. I think she's still adjusting to going out in public again though, she just doesn't like being over crowded which is understandable" she rubbed her chin. Natalie nodded as she watched the selfless teen entertain her 5 year old by acting silly, Owen finds her hilarious.
Later that evening the small group were sat outside whilst the sun was only now beginning to set, despite it being past 9pm. Owen was asleep on the couch inside since his tiny body was exhausted, but the rest of them were all sat on deck chairs outside, enjoying the summer heat whilst they all had a day off work. Apart from hazel, since she doesn't work of course. The heat was beginning to make hazel a little tired but she was far too comfy to move, so instead she pulled her legs up to her chest and leant her chin on her knees instead. She tried her best not to let the heaviness in her eyes take over, but the heat was making it pretty unbearable.
Before she knew it, the adult chatter soon became a blur and her eyes were sealed shut. The world got real quiet and she felt at peace. Hailey looked over and smiled, "two down" she chuckled. Jay smiled, but things like this don't go ignored in this house. So instead of giving his daughter peace and quiet, he took multiple pictures which very quickly ended up on Instagram and Facebook. Will had a funny feeling that the pair would have an unhappy teenager in the morning when she finds out...
