Hazel was lingering around outside when two scary looking adults approached her, "hazel Jackson, we work in the intelligence unit with the CPD. We really need you to come down to the station so we can have a chat" she heard a man say. She looked up in the darkness and saw their barely lit faces, "CPD. What? Am I like arrested or something?" She shook her head. The blonde lady smiled weakly, "not if you willingly come with us" she shook her head. Hazel looked around, "alright fine, I'll come, but can I go make an excuse up to my friends, they'll get worried..." she looked over her shoulder. The pair looked at each other, "yeah but make it quick, see that black car over there? Hop in there when you're done, and we advise you not to make a runner" the man nodded. Hazel gulped, no matter how many times she gets arrested, it will always scare her when cops are deadly serious. She nodded then went to find her friends.

She found Emily refilling on drink, "hey, my dads picking me up early. He has work in the morning I gotta go" she yelled over the music. Emily pouted, "okay... I'll tell those idiots over there too" she nodded. Hazel smiled, "thanks" she nodded then ran off again. She was tempted to make a runner but she could see the blonde lady staring her down so she chose life and got into the car, "thanks for not running kid, made my job a whole lot easier" the man laughed a little and began driving. She smiled weakly but sat in silence until they arrived at the familiar 21st district. She got some judgemental stares as the pair lead her upstairs and into an interrogation room for this chat they talked about.

Jay and hank were stood on the other side of the glass as they looked at the teenager sat with her head down in the room in front of them, "better to just get this over and done with" jay sighed and went to walk out.  Hank stopped him, "let upton and ruzek try first, we do still need you as the teacher" he sighed.  Jay knew there was no use in arguing so he nodded and stood back in his place as the pair watched Adam and hailey enter the room, the kids head shot up and gave the pair a curious glare.

Hailey smiled, "so hazel, you're here because we found some footage which shows you and your father involved in a shooting. You wanna tell us what happened?" She nodded weakly.  Hazel shook her head, "I don't trust cops" she looked away, sounding rehearsed almost.  The detectives looked at each other, "you gotta realise how bad this looks on our end kid..." Adam sighed.  Hazel shrugged, "I already know, and I don't care, so if you gotta charge me for murder then do it, just get it over and done with" she kept her head down. Hailey frowned, "you'll be looking at jail time hazel, you don't want that do you?" She sighed. Hazel shrugged, "I've been in juvie before, I've been arrested multiple times before, a few years of prison isn't gonna do much harm" she finally looked at hailey, her eyes were empty and bland.

Adam frowned, "it'll be a lot more than just a few years kiddo, you're looking at roughly 15 years if you get charged as a kid, 30 to life if you're charged as an adult" he huffed and folded his arms. Hazel looked at him and shrugged, "then so be it, I'm done. And I'm definitely not talking" she folded her arms too. Hailey looked at Adam then over her shoulder, the pair said nothing as they left the room to join the other two detectives behind the glass. Jay sighed, "I'm not letting her go to prison for something she was forced into, lemme talk to her" he edged his way towards the door. Hank thought about it, "right fine" he waved him off, there goes jays cover.

Hazel looked up as the door opened again, she had to take a double look when she saw who it was, "Ryan?" She let her blank expression become more of a confused ponder. Jay smiled sadly, "I'm not ryan, I'm jay, detective jay halstead" he shook his head. Hazel sat up straighter, "detective? Wh-I thought you were..." she leant on the table. Jay smiled weakly, "a teacher? I'm sorry kiddo, I was undercover" he shook his head. Hazel sat back in disbelief, "oh" is all she managed to say, oh indeed. Jay just watched as her face became slightly disappointed, "you gotta talk to us haz" he started.  Hazel shook her head, "why? So you can jam my dad up? Look, I may hate him and we may have more disputes then happy moments, but he's all I have, I have nothing if I lose him" she shook her head and slouched back on the chair.

Jay frowned, "hey, that's not true. You're gonna have us to rely on, your friends, and we're gonna make things work out. But you need to focus on yourself right now haz, prison isn't the place for you, there is a life past all of this" he slouched too, hoping he could make her trust him as much as possible.  Hazel lifted her eye line up ever so slightly, "what'd you wanna know?" She spoke quietly, ashamed that she would even think of being disloyal to her dad. Jay smiled sadly and sat up, "that's it, you're doing the right thing haz. You just gotta talk me through what happened okay?" He leant forward so he could be closer, she was probably gonna speak quietly so he'd need to hear her more.

She nodded so jay continued, "firstly can you tell me when this was, the cam footage had no date or time" he nodded. Hazel kept her eyes down, "I don't know, maybe a a week ago. It was the night before I nearly threw a fist at you in class. Sorry about that by the way..." she sniffled a little, still keeping her head down. Jay smiled a little, he knew something serious was up with her when her fists nearly made contact with his jaw, "thats good, and it's okay. Now can you tell me who was involved?" He pulled the chair around since he could see that her leg was nervously bouncing under the table, she was probably gonna break down soon.

Hazel nodded, "just me and my dad, no one else..." she began fiddling with the hem of her dress. Jay nodded, "you're doing great, now you just need to tell me exactly what happened okay? Start from the very beginning" he leant forward. Hazel nodded and sat up straighter, once again her head was down and she hadn't looked at him in about 2 minutes, "I think it was like 8 o clock ish, something like that. My dad told me to get in the car coz we were gonna go to the club he goes to and talk to some people" she started. Jay nodded, "for the drugs?" He enquired. Hazel looked up in fear, they know about the drugs? Jay saw the worry in her eyes, "it's okay, we already knew about them" he put his hand out. She instantly relaxed then looked down again to carry on, "yeah, for the drugs" she confirmed.

"The dealer told my dad he didn't have it and that we should meet a second man instead. My dad didn't really like the idea of that, but he needed the product so we went to the garages, met the man, and things got out of hand" she trailed off at the end.  Jay nodded, "is that when your dad shot the man?" He smiled sadly.  Hazel nodded, "yeah, uhm, my dad didn't like how talkative the dealer was and the dealer didn't like how impatient my dad was.  The man went to grab his gun so my dad did the same, I think my dad got a little scared..." she shook her head as her voice became shaky. Jay frowned and reached his arm out, he placed his hand on her arm and smiled sadly, "he got scared of what haz? You're doing amazing" he nodded. Hazel nodded and took a shallow breath.

"The man started saying things, he was saying that he'd shoot me if my dad didn't put the gun down, my dad got spooked when the guy aimed his gun at me. So he shot him, then. Then we..." she shook her head and looked up at him with tears in her eyes. Jay met her eyes for the first time, "hey hey hey, listen to me. It's okay, it's okay..." he grabbed her hand and pulled her into a hug, she was on the verge of breaking down... She accepted the hug gratefully, but she managed to save her tears for the pillow, "that's it, you're okay. We're nearly done yeah?" He pulled away as she looked at him with fearful eyes. Hazel nodded and fiddled with her dress again, "uhm, yeah, so he shot him and then I tried to get out of it. My dad said it would all be fine and that I just had to help him hide the bo... that" she nodded then took a deep breath.

"I helped him put it into the car, then my dad drove down to the water, I helped him put it in the rocks... W-I did it..." she looked at her hands, the image of the blood which covered her hands that night filled her brain. Jay shook his head and grabbed her hand since it was shaking rapidly, "no you didn't, hey look at me. You did not do this okay? This isn't your fault, at all" he nodded once she looked up to him. A stray tear rolled down her cheek, "you did so well haz and it's all gonna be over soon. I just need you to hang tight for a little longer okay?" He smiled sadly. Hazel nodded then wiped her tear away, "okay" she watched him stand up.
