Mom didn't show up in class today, I wonder why. Maybe she's busy. But she is waiting at the car for me so, probably not that busy.

"C'mon, we need to go" she says to me

I raised my eyebrows, "What? Where?"

"We're meeting up with the Hernandez family to have a little talk"

I hate it when she says it's just a little talk because it clearly won't be. We'll probably be there for an hour talking about... Actually, I don't even know what they talk about. (Probably school and teacher stuff). I'll just try to exclude myself from it and not pay attention.

I just took my phone and scroll through my social media apps. Mindlessly scrolling. I'm not really paying attention to the contents of each post just... scroll.

Coming home from it, we stop at a traffic light and mom finally looks at me, "Honey, is there something wrong? You seemed distracted earlier."

It was kinda nice of her to ask, since in school she's very strict and it's really hard to make her even crack a smile.

"Sorry, just thinking about someone," I say to her as the traffic light goes green and she continues driving.

"Ooh, is it a kid from school? She asks, "It's been so long since I've heard you talk about someone." Oh boy, here she goes. She gets over excited about these things and starts asking a lot of questions.

"It's the new kid in class," I tell her, "I don't know. We literally just met and just, he made me confused and flustered and..." I sigh and sink into my seat.

Mom giggles and pats my arm. "Well sometimes, it's very much like that" She turns to our house and stops on the driveway and pulls on the handbrake. I start unbuckling my seatbelt and open the door.

"Tell you what,"she smirks, I don't like where this is going, "how 'bout I be a wingmom for you?"

A wingmom, basically a wingman but it's your mom.

"Oh god, mom, please no"

She laughs, "I'm just kidding, hun" and gives me a wink. I roll my eyes and start heading into the house
