"Although you've worked in a pub, I think it's best that you have some formal training first," Hoseok spoke up as he saw Jungkook in the training room.
"Our client might not be sober enough and you'll have to defend yourself if that happens, so I want to make sure that you're prepared for every scenario," he added as he grabbed a dagger from the table.
"Since we have a week, I thought it would be best to go over some defense training first before we have a review on your 'people skills'," he went on, giving the dagger to Jungkook.
"What am I supposed to do with this?"
"Well, you aim it, and throw. Remember, we want minimal damage in such a way you make the cut where he doesn't bleed. First, aim. Second precision."
Jungkook nodded and held the blade in his palm, casually making an aim to throw it.
"No no no. Not like that," Hoseok chided. He walked over and placed his hand on the dagger.
"Make it look pretty, but train it to kill," he ordered. Jungkook nodded again and threw it close to the bull's eye.
"Aye, good shot. Now let's try again."
They continued to train with the daggers - aiming targets and precise stances. It took a while before Jungkook could give a precise hit. Usually he got tired after training, so right after, he just sauntered into the kitchens and always pulled a chair to spend time with Seokjin for dinner. The two of them usually had eventful conversations about Jungkook's day during training and everything.
But as the days passed, there was something that bugged Jungkook's mind. It was more about what Yoongi said. About how damaged Taehyung was.
"Jin hyung," he called out one night as he was waiting for dinner to be served.
"Yes Kook? What do you need?"
"What do you know about Taehyung? Like how did you get here?"
Jin set his spatula down with a sigh. He knew that Jungkook was going to ask questions at some point, but not in an unexpected way.
"He and I met at my restaurant. He liked my food and kept coming back for more. I thought he was just a lovely customer who enjoyed our service. One time he slipped a note along with the bill saying that he wanted to meet me when I closed shop. Said that he was waiting for me and expected my arrival. I thought it was a joke but to my surprise, he was there."
"He thought I was trustable enough to keep his secret and told me about how he needed someone on the inside - like someone who works here to keep an eye on a particular client of his. I was to report this for a week and then he took over the job for me. And then I became a field agent, helping him whenever there was an undercover catering job or when he wanted me to look out for him."
"What about him as a person, I mean, do you know about his past or anything-"
"Jungkook I can't help you with that, if there's anything you want to know you'll have to ask him about that yourself."
"Hyung no, not that's-that's not what I wanted. I-I don't know how to say this, but-"
"You're in love with him," Jin said with a smile.
Jungkook stared back at him. "How do you know?" he whispered back.
"I can see it in your eyes. When he brought you for dinner and when you stormed out on him. I saw it in his eyes too when he came looking for you. He was so worried that he went looking for you himself in the middle of the night with food but then he brought it back because you had slept already."
