The Tragedy of a Ten Year Old

The Foster Kid

Later when I woke up

"You wont talk about them, what are your parents like?" The teal haired girl asked me

"Oh um uh" I looked around for an easy excuse but couldn't find one so pulled flight "I just remember david told me to do something ima do that now bye" and I left

I knew it was obvious something was up but what am I supposed to do I ran into the young adults cabin tears burning their way down my face when I got in there I saw Gwen and ran directly into her arms

"Max what's wrong" the concerned adult asked as I coughed

Gwen POV

I was sitting at my table doing some paperwork and in ran max and he immediately jumped into my arms he was shaking yet he made no sound.

"Max what's wrong" I paused waiting for an answer but got none "A- uh Max are you ok well you like would, do you want me to get David? I don't know how to help you honey" I asked awkwardly to the shaking boy

He couldn't speak because of his breathing so he just shook his head no

10 minutes of me trying to calm the boy down David finally walked in asking if I knew where Max was and he immediately saw the scene running over to help the shaking boy forgetting to close the door

David POV

I walked into my cabin i share with my wife and Max. Walking in to ask her if she's seen Max

When I walk in it see a ball of blue in black shaking in Gwen's lap running over to comfort the boy when I touched his back he jump a bit turned around and clung to me for dear life. When i turned around to take him to his bed since he always falls pretty quickly when I hold him I see the entire group of kids standing in the doorway I finished carrying him into his bed and when I go back out Gwen's talking to the kids

"What happened?" Nikki asked

"How long has he been like that" Neil asked as well

"Is this related to this morning at all?"

"Did I do this when I asked about his parents" Nikki was the last kid to ask a question and Gwen and I just looked at her

"Im sorry you asked him what?" Gwen raised her voice

"I didn't know anything would happen it wasn't related to anything this morning and i was curious"

"Uh lets all go to the mess hall if anyone waked him up he will panic more," i say looking at Gwen and she nods

When we got to the mess hall we sit the kids down and start to explain Max's life

"Max is being abused in his home" Gwen started softly but getting a loud response from the kids "Max's parents didn't sign him up for a specific camp they didn't write his birthday Max doesn't even know his birthday"

"We were later notified that he was officially a orphan and honestly were thinking about taking Max in to be our own" I said calmly to the group

Almost as soon as I finished speaking Max walked in as skin and bone he was tired half asleep and just walked in and climbed into my lap as he'd done every night so far since day one

"Have you eaten yet today?"

He shook his head no I looked up at Gwen and she moved into the pantry to grab some crackers since he would refuse to eat anything else Max didn't seem to notice the other kids because if he did he wouldn't have done this. When Max finished eating he looked up. Turned his head. And just said "so wha'ja think"

The kids looked around and both Gwen and is were confused "you knew they were there?"

"Yup they arent so quiet"

Max POV

I walked in immediately noticed the group if kids staring at me I automatically knew they were told no one would look at me like that if they weren't told so I crawled into Davids lap

"Have you eaten yet today?"

I shook my head and Gwen went to go get crackers its all I ate so I wont get in trouble for not eating when I finished i didn't bother looking at the kids but I spoke "so wha'ja think?" Turning my head to look at them

The kids looked around and Gwen started to speak " you knew they were there?"

So like any other 10 year old I decided to lie "yup they arent so quiet" they were quiet in just like fucking with people

"Was that tall true?" Neil spoke up

"Was what true? My life story? Of course it was true"

"Thats so sad" Nikki also spoke

"Yea well no one said it was pleasant I just said I wasn't going to talk about it now David can I go to bed?"

"Of course" and as of that I was carried back top the cabin we're in feel asleep 10 seconds in
