Max POV
It's the last day on camp, so we're required to pack, obviously
"Max," mom knocked on the door around noon, "pick up time is soon, want to take a break for a couple hours?"
I look up from my spot leaning against the wall under the window. "Yeah, sure"
"I know that sulk, are you ok?" She sits down next to him draping her arm around his shoulders
"Yeah, I'm just.. not ready for it to be over yet" he leans into his mother's warmth
"I get that, you know, I felt the same when I was done with elementary school, or middle school, or highschool, and even when I finished college or my first year working in a school. You will always have events where you aren't ready for it to be over, it happens all the time where time just pauses and it all feels so.."
"Surreal?"
"Yea thats a good word for it, what I'm trying to say is life has these moments, where you are happy you're gone through it and survived. Even if your case it almost happened,"
"Thanks I didn't need a reminder" he chuckled
"Can I finish?" I nod, life has ups and downs, and when things come to an end, you almost wish it didn't even if you are very, very excited for your new chapter, you understand?"
"I think it's time you stop reading angsty fanfiction" I laughed again
"Hypocrite," ( you uh.. see what I did there)"Come on, let's go say good bye to my friends"
