A/N;; this is the prince caspian age range but is still in the cair paravel building :)

she had never felt this for him, why now?

y/n stared as the boy danced with another girl, her hair dark brown and her dress a bright yellow. much different than her own, which was a deep red color, peter had said it went perfectly with her hair color. (if the dress doesn't fit your hair or isn't how you would like, you can 100% change it)

she ran her fingers through her locks, messing up her hair style a bit. looking down at her dress, the girl let out a small sigh as she looked back at the floor, watching all her friends dance as she wiped her hands on the dress. the little bit of confidence she had was severely boosted when the high king peter, who was a bit too happy looking, came up to her asking for a dance. of course she said yes, not daring decline as he had the biggest smile on his face.

also because he seemed charming and after all was quite cute.

he held his hand out to her and she slipped hers into it easily. their hands automatically interlocked as peter led her to the floor, holding his hands in hers.

as they danced, they laughed together and made jokes. of course, he wasn't as up-tight as everyone had rumored him to be. peter tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and was opening his mouth to say something, a compliment, when his brother slid between the two of them and broke their grip and rhythm.

peter looked at his younger brother, confused while y/n was smiling, giggling actually. edmund flashed peter a smile and winked at the girl as he took the hand of another teenage girl swooning over him.

the high king looked at y/n, who looked to be one of the only girls not interested in his brother, which he wasn't complaining about.

peter took her hand once more and they started dancing again, almost as if nothing had happened in the first place. edmund looked at them as he was dancing, and he raised his eyebrows at the people who looked like best friends in the middle of the floor.

the song stopped and a slower song filled the room, just about every person had someone else to dance with. looking over, the younger brother saw some girl sweep peter away as y/n watched with a smile. edmund frowned at this, and removed the girl from him, slipping away from her.

he walked towards the y/h/c girl, flashing a smile as he popped up in front of her. she furrowed her brows and started walking towards the sitting tables but he grabbed her hand gently and pulled her to him, snaking his arms around her waist. her hands met behind his neck, and she smiled widely at him.

"so i'm guessing communication isn't your thing?" she whispered as her head was on his chest. he was stumped by this sudden confidence in her and stood there speechless for a few seconds before shaking his head. "no-

no it is, it's just that- i mean- i didn't want to take you from peter. that's all"

she laughed into his chest and spun him around as all the guys spun the girls they were dancing with. "that's weird. king edmund the just, not wanting to take his best friend from his older brother. hm."

he scoffed as they danced and shook his head. "no, it wasn't like that. you just looked like you were enjoying it" she snorted at his comment and stroked his hair, poking her lip out at him. "sounds like you're insecure" she teased and pushed her thumb into his neck, pressing a pressure point. his hand shot up to move her hand and he grumbled while moving her hand back around his neck.
