For the first time in months, Dyron had slept the entire night. His nightmares stayed at the back of his head for a while, but he could feel them still lurking to make an appearance.
Before he had even met Casey he had these restless nights, where waking up agitated and sweating became a normal routine during the late and early hours of the day.
His arm held her close to his chest, her warmth was something he didn't know he needed until last night. For a brief moment he felt content, but the memory of his nightmares soon washed the feeling away.
Before he could continue savoring the moment of peace, the agitated voices of Evan and Alec made their way through the tent. Their voices were suddenly hushed by the sight of Casey and Dyron laying on the same cot.
"Sorry to interrupt, but we caught Talev," Alec announced. His face hides a teasing smirk.
"We'll go in a moment," Dyron answered back. His face was deadly serious at the mention of Talev.
When both, Alec and Evan, left he turned to look back at Casey. Her head was still resting on the cot and her eyes were studying him steadily.
His hand caressed her cheek and the pink color on her cheeks reappeared. She slowly sat up and got closer to his warmth. A smirk appeared as her eyes focused on his lips.
"You want another one?" Dyron teased.
"Let me think about -," Before Casey could finish the sentence his lips were on her. It started tender, like the kiss they had shared last night... but she wanted to be closer, so she placed her legs on top of his thighs, and in a swift movement he had pulled her towards him. Her arms rested on his shoulders as the kiss got deeper and the fire inside them grew.
Casey had never shared a kiss with anyone before, the sensations were so new to her but the tickles in her stomach and his soft lips on hers felt strangely good. The only thing she was certain of at that moment was that she wanted more, and she didn't want it to end.
The air left her lungs as she felt his tongue slipping past her lips. She backed away and lowered her face to hide her now flaming red cheeks.
He chuckled and his hand raised her face. His lips got closer again but the kiss landed on her forehead.
"Let's go," he whispered.

Casey shivered when her eyes met the black ones of Talev. As soon as he saw her a smirk appeared on his face.
"There you are little one. I've been looking for you, " he added laughing.
His pale blue and bloody chest was exposed. Both his wrists and ankles were chained to the metal legs and armrests of a chair.
That would be of no help considering he has already hurt you without lifting a finger, Casey thought.
Dyron was at her side, his eyebrows furrowed and hand placed on the handle of his knife.
"What do you want?" Casey asked with a low but steady voice.
Talev started laughing uncontrollably, his mouth wide open, letting them see his shark-like teeth.
"To kill you of course," he answered after what seemed eternal seconds. His face was back to serious again and his eyes expressed his desire.
Dyron was about to throw him his knife and kill Talev, but when Casey sensed his movement, her hand immediately covered his. His gaze was focused on her, his clenched jaw indicated he was begging her to let him kill the man in front.
Before she could do or say anything her vision started getting blurry. Her hands immediately rubbed her eyes. As the seconds passed by she loses her eyesight even more.
"Dyron, I-I cannot see," her arms stretched out searching for him. His arms had surrounded her body before she tumbled down.
Complete darkness surrounded her until a small sparkle of light started getting closer to her, or perhaps bigger. She squinted her eyes at the brightness that slowly started to surround her. She closed her eyes for a second. As she opened them again her father's eyes were focusing on her.
Her first reaction was to run to him and hug him, but she realized something was off when he didn't move and a usual smile started appearing on his face.
"Talev," she whispered as she saw those sharp teeth and now black eyes.
"You can call me that," he chuckled, "I'm just using his body like I'm using your father's now."
Casey's insides stirred at his comment.
"Who-what are you?" She asked, slowly stepping away from him.
"I'm a servant of the darkness, a really powerful one. I'm no human, but I can easily use dead humans," he casually responded as he slowly walked toward her.
As he got closer, the air in her lungs vanished. Once again her insides started burning and her body fell into the dark void. Her head hit the ground beneath her.
In barely a second, her eyes saw death. The lifeless bodies that surrounded her were from the ones she knew and loved most. Her mother, Flint, Shira, Aundrea, and Dyron. She felt a thousand stabs in her heart.
Talev crouched beside her, "Everything's a trap and you'll not realize it until it's too late," he stood there looking and smiling at her as Casey felt her own life leaving her body.
Then, at the distance, a trumpet resounded.
++++"Casey!" Dyron grabbed her head with his two hands. His desperate movements pulled her out of the void.
A sigh left his mouth, and his arms surrounded her body tightly.
"We need to leave," he quickly stood up, bringing her upright with himself.
Her surroundings moved and the light was too bright for her eyes. She heard a high noise fill the air, the trumpet. It was real, she thought.
She turned around and saw the limp body of Talev. Shira had him over his broad shoulder.
"He was going to end you," Dyron announced behind her. His eyes were still filled with worry and a hint of sadness.
"He's a demon Dyron." she gulped as she pronounced the words.
