She felt a strong impact on her chest. Her body flew backward and hit the nearest tree behind her. She tried to move her legs, but for the first few seconds, she couldn't regain control of her body.
Her head was full of noise; a sharp, severe sound tumbled in her insides. Her body felt completely heavy and every part of her ached. She lifted her gaze to see what was in front of her, the building burning in flames, someone's body sprawled motionless on the ground, someone's leg on the ground.
"Let's go!" the words reached her ears as Dyron tried to lift her. He was also stunned, he was stumbling and his body lacked strength.
It took everything for her to stand on her feet. Her body hugged the tree and her vision slowly started to recover.
"Casey, move!" Dyron's lips were close to her ears, his agitated breath hitting her neck. He slipped his hand towards her waist and her arm rested on his shoulders. Their feet were slowly walking towards the forest, the place nobody dared to hide in.
"Where are the others?" she asked between breaths.
"Save your breath and continue walking," Dyron scolded her. He led her for a few minutes, his hand around her, preventing her numb body to fall.

A sensation of unexplainable peace surrounded her. The air was cold and smelled deliciously fresh. It hit strongly against her face, which made her smile. Then, she recalled the strange and dangerous events that had occurred before. How could something so peaceful and beautiful be dark and life-threatening?
"Don't let its beauty fool you."
His voice was full of disgust and hatred. His eyes were lost in the void of the forest. For the second time, Casey could see his real color. A light green surrounded his pupils. He is beautiful in every way, she thought. Her eyes scanned his face. His jaw was clenched; his lips were in a thin line, but they were bright red and moistened. Her eyes were now on his nose. A perfect shaped, structured nose. His hair was beautifully messed and his eyes... He was looking down at her, those marvelous golden eyes. She immediately felt her cheeks burning and her eyes darted towards the green and brown ground her feet were on.
"They're coming," he said. He had climbed a tree and gotten up to a branch to look for signs of the rest of their fellows. Dawn had already passed and the sun was now mid-way on reaching its highest point.
She was sitting on the root of a large tree. Her eyes were still mesmerized by the beauty that was around her. Her ribs still ached at every breath she took and her ankle had swollen up over the night. None of them had slept last night. They sat next to each other, hiding behind a wide, mossy trunk. Every little sound accelerated their breaths and beating hearts.
Aundrea was carrying the bag they had filled before the bomb hit. She was taking shallow breaths and as soon he saw her and Dyron she dropped the bag and threw herself on the ground.
Alec was carrying Flint, who was as pale as the clouds above. One of his legs was covered in a red liquid. Blood.
"Help me lay him against that tree," he looked at Casey and pointed towards the tree next to her spot.
"What happened to him?" Dyron asked as he landed with a silent thud on the ground.
"A big chunk of the building landed right on his leg," Aundrea explained.
"Where are the others?" Dyron asked once again.
"They'll be here soon. Well at least eight of them. Retrus and Liana didn't make it," Aundrea was now standing near Casey.
