hestia had picked out a dress while over the phone with hecate and persephone, the two other goddesses having been very excited in helping her pick out something for the mikaelson celebration. hades had surrendered when the two women had snapped for him to go away, promising that he'd call her later to check on her and see if she'd found anything interesting just yet.
little did her brother know, that she'd literally come across a surplus of supernatural activity in mystic falls.
hestia went to the mikaelson manor on her own, having gotten directions from carol on where to go. the mayor had been nervous when hestia told her she'd been invited, but the goddess had reassured her that she'd be alright, and they planned to meet up while they were there.
walking into the manor, hestia looks around in awe at how well the place had been structured and decorated. she had seen many extravagant places all over the world, and nothing could compare to ancient greece in her personal opinion, but klaus had certainly made his home magnificent.
spotting carol soon after walking in and giving her coat to the coat check, the goddess grins and makes her way towards her friend. she ignored damon and the unfamiliar man she was with, instead tapping the mayor on the shoulder and grinning wider when she turns to her.
"hestia! oh, i'm so glad you made it! that dress looks exquisite on you," the human woman compliments, smiling and relaxing at the new presence. damon and the other man look hestia up and down, their throats drying up at the sight of her. it didn't matter if they didn't know hestia or whatnot, she was a beautiful woman and the dress she was wearing accentuated that.
"thank you, carol. your dress is remarkable on all accounts, and it does wonders for your figure."
the woman flushes at the comment and the teasing wink sent her way, not having expected being complimented. not many complimented her at this age, and the last person that had was her husband.
"thank you."
damon and the man had a little standoff before he turned to hestia, smiling almost innocently at her as he introduces himself, "hello, miss hestia. i'm kol mikaelson, it's a pleasure to meet you."
hearing the name, the goddess nods and takes his hand that he raises to kiss the back of, much like he had with carol. damon had walked off and carol was watching them with wide, panicked eyes, but hestia just smiles at him.
"likewise, mister kol."
kol chuckles a little at the formality, guessing she hadn't liked him calling her 'miss', so he decided to say goodbye to both women before walking off.
"you want to get another drink?" hestia questions her friend, grinning cheekily as carol nods with a long sigh.
"you have no idea." they make their way to the bar, carol sending a light admonishing look when a teenager easily scores some champagne, but they laugh as the bartender hands them their own. after receiving the drinks, the two leave to go around the room, carol talking politely to the residents while introducing her new friend to those that wondered who hestia was.
eventually, the commotion of the room came to a stop when one of the hosts clinked something against his glass to draw attention to the people at the top of the stairs. hestia, catching the gaze of klaus, smiles at him and receives a thankful, genuine one in return. she notices kol look between them in confusion and intrigue before turning back to his other brother.
hestia could guess that this was elijah, the "noble brother."
"uh, if everyone could gather, please. welcome. thank you for joining us. you know, whenever my mother brings our family together like this, it's tradition for us to commence the evening with a dance," he says, a blond woman coming down the staircase to stand with her family.
