hestia didn't advertise her return to mystic falls, not wanting any possible unnecessary drama to ensue if the salvatore brothers heard she was back in town before klaus and rebekah did.

so, the goddess went to carol lockwood, first.

she truly did like carol. the woman was kind, and smart, and was doing the absolute best she could for her town considering the impossible situation she was in. mystic falls was crawling with vampires, with new ones showing up practically every week, her son was awol in attempts to un-sire bond himself from the hybrid, said hybrid and his family basically had free reign of whatever they wanted with the town, and people were dying from some mysterious serial killer.

the goddess hadn't even needed to use her comforting abilities to have carol spilling some of her worries and stresses to her, and it warmed her heart to realize the woman saw her as a trustworthy confidant. granted, carol didn't know the extent of hestia's supernatural knowledge, or of her divine nature, but it didn't deter their friendship too much.

the two women saw each other as friends, and hestia would protect carol no matter what.

so, it was no surprise when the woman asked her to join her at wickery bridge for the beginnings of the restoration. hestia had heard rebekah mention it the last time they talked, the girl saying she intended to talk to the mayor about something, and so the goddess agreed to go.

her intrigue at rebekah's intentions only increased upon arriving, and eventually encountering the girl with carol at her side.

the girl had finally approached them after carol had made her initial rounds with the people milling about the site, greeting the two women with a pleasant smile, though slightly surprised and a bit miffed at hestia's surprise appearance.

"hestia, i thought you were still out of town with your relatives?" she asked once greeting them, and the goddess smiles knowingly at the vampire.

"i arrived back last night and didn't want to bother you or nik with my getting home so late. besides, i hadn't talked to carol here for some time, and thought the two of us should catch up, when she invited me here," she briefly explains, and the youngest original only nods before turning her attention back to the mayor, who was simply watching the exchange with a slight raise of the eyebrow.

the girl was asking carol about something pertaining to old milling records of the town, which further raised intrigue in the goddess. it wasn't long before the human woman noticed alaric, the woman from the bar that had helped dagger kol, and damon salvatore eyeing the three of them, and carol went to go talk to the history teacher.

turning to properly face rebekah after watching carol walk away, hestia raises an eyebrow at the young original.

"what's all this business about the milling records? is it something important i should be aware of?"

rebekah quickly hushes her, even though the goddess knew she had been quiet enough for no eavesdropping vampires to have been able to hear.

"we'll discuss it later, hestia, not here. especially not with a salvatore waiting in the wings."

both women nod at each other, then turn to listen as carol gave her speech about the restoration of the bridge. hestia had to admit that carol lockwood truly had a way with her words when it came to such events, and it brought a smile to her lips to see and feel how passionate her friend was about bettering her town.

carol was a pure soul, and the goddess adored her for it.

they both noticed damon sauntering through the crowd towards a smirking woman with dark red hair, and the groan rebekah let out caused the woman to frown slightly.
