Wedding Rings 💍

"I'm done." 

Her voice, cold and devoid of any emotion. 

"What?" 

"I can't do this anymore. I'm sorry, y/n."

"Wait, what do you mean?"

"I'll be taking my leave now. Take care." 

The woman turned her back. 

"Leave?! You're leavin- wait, no!"

"Goodbye." 

Glancing at you for the last time, she left. 

"No no no no. Don't leave me! Please, baby! Wait!"

You ran after her. Though the more you ran, the further she gets, making it impossible for you to catch up. And eventually, she disappeared. 

You jolted upright. Your chest heaved up and down as you took in short quick breaths. Beads of cold sweat dripped along your temples, down to the collar of your shirt. 

You brought your legs towards you and hugged them closer, leaning your head against them. 

While trying to regain your composure, you felt shuffling beside you. "Baby?" 

A soft voice laced with sleep called out. You turned and saw your lover's face. Her eyes squinting in an attempt to make out your figure. 

Yeji turned on the lamp on her bedside table before sitting upright. She leaned in closer to you. 

"Hey, what's wrong? Did you have a nightmare?" 

Not trusting your voice at the moment, you simply nodded. Yeji scooted closer, wrapping her arms around you. 

"Wanna tell me about it?" She asked again, her voice nothing but gentle. 

Sniffling, you began. "You left me."

"I did what?" The hand that was rubbing your back stopped. Yeji pulled away, giving you an incredulous look. 

Yeji couldn't believe what she heard. Though it was just a dream, she can't help but feel bad at what she had done in her lover's dream. 

"You left me. In my dream, you left me. You said you were done and that you can't take it anymore."

You paused to wipe away a few tears. She brought her hand up and did the same. 

"And then you said goodbye. After that you turned and just.. left. You just left. And I ran after you. I ran and ran and ran. But I just can't seem to catch up to you." 

Yeji brought you closer to her, cradling you in her arms. You leaned into her body as you bawled. 

"I know it's just a dream but.. I'm scared, Yeji. I'm scared that it'll come true."

To this, Yeji pulled away and cupped your face in her hands. 

"Y/n, honey look at me. I'm really sorry for what I did in your dream, but listen to me."

After blinking a few tears away, you looked at her. You could see the worry in her cat-like eyes. 

"I would never ever do that to you. I promise you. Besides," her lips formed a small smile, brushing a few strands of hair from your face, "I love you too much to even leave you just like that."

Yeji gently pressed her forehead against yours. You both closed your eyes, relishing each other's presence. 

Soon enough, your breathing became steady as you calmed down. Yeji softly kissed your forehead and whispered, "I love you so much, my love. Remember that for me, please?" 

With a nod, you responded. "I love you too."

She smiled, your words making her heart do backflips as usual. 

"C'mon, let's get back to sleep. Wouldn't want to be sleepy during our date later, would we?"

"Are we gonna get ice cream?" You asked in a small voice. 

Yeji chuckled, finding you cute. "If that's what you want, then an ice cream date it is." 

Hearing this, you quickly settled in bed with her. You snuggled close, pulling up the covers over the both of you. 

Yeji chuckled at your actions, sensing your excitement at the mention of a date. She kissed you good night, and you did the same. 

Before you could drift off to sleep, you felt Yeji grasp your hand and intertwined your fingers. She brought it up to her lips, kissing the back of your hand.

With that, you both slept. Your wedding rings gleamed under the moonlight that passed through the bedroom window.
