"Gina?"
The flame haired woman stirred in her sleep and jolted to full consciousness when she was awake enough to feel the pain in her leg. "Drug me up," she moaned.
"Are you in pain?"
Gina nodded and tried her hardest to sit up slightly. Her favourite nurse nodded and took note of the painkillers she was administering.
"Anyway, why have you woken me up from my beauty sleep?"
"Right," the nurse sighed, perching on the edge of Gina's bed. "I'm going to put you in a wheelchair, okay? Then we are going to go and see your friend."
"Why?! I mean, i'm glad, but is she okay?"
"I'm so sorry-"
"WHY?"
"Please try and stay calm, okay? I know this is going to be really hard for you, but i need to get you there as soon as possible. I am so sorry but it's time to say goodbye."
Gina had no words. "But- no, she's only 29- KEEP FUCKING TRYING FOR HER!"
"I'm so sorry, we really have done everything we can. Can you face seeing her?"
"Get me to her," she said coldly.
The nurse gave her an encouraging smile and helped her into a wheelchair.

*FIVE MINUTES LATER*

Gina sharply gasped as she was wheeled into Rosa's room. The raven haired detective was laying still on the bed, sweating and pale. She was fighting for every breath.
"Rosa," she whispered.
"Hm?" Rosa stirred slightly.
"Oh, you're awake," Gina murmured, taking Rosa's hand and gesturing for the nurses to leave them alone as the tears began to fill her eyes.
"Gina, i have something to say," Rosa croaked.
"what is it?" Gina forced a loving smile.
"I'm in love with you. I know that might sound crazy. But i have been for a really long time. When i had that meeting, I was told to get everyone either killed or fired from the 99. There was only one person who needed to end up dead. That person-" rosa broke off and coughed, blood spilling from her mouth- "was you. That's why i pushed you away that night. It broke me. That's what was on the paper, the paper you were about to read. I panicked. You were the first one who understood me, pretty much ever. I spent my whole... my whole-" her voice was getting quieter and quieter, weaker and weaker. "My whole childhood being told i wasn't good enough. To hide my emotions. With you though it was different. I could be me. You need to take Rogers down. You need to build the squad back and do it for me if not for yourself. The secrets he knew about me don't matter any more. Just do it. Take on the world for me, yeah? I love you, I love you."
Gina stared lovingly at her soulmate and gave in, letting the tears drip down her nose as she captured Rosa's lips in her own. The whole world melted away, and all she could think about was the taste of Rosa's cherry chapstick, the feel of her fingers in her hair, the softness of Rosa's cheek in her hand. When they finally broke away, Rosa was smiling, but the light had faded slightly from her eyes.
"I love you too Rosa. I love you so much. And i will take down Rogers. He isn't getting away with this, okay? I will love you forever and always."
"Promise me you're never going to stop dancing. Literally and metaphorically. You are my favourite human being, Gina Linetti. The world needs your light. Don't let anyone dim it. I'll always be cheering you on sweetheart."
"Please don't go," Gina whispered.
"Shhhhh," Rosa whispered, moving her thumb slightly across Gina's cheek to wipe the steady stream of tears. "I'm not going anywhere, I'm always going to be with you, okay?" She coughed and lay back down with a groan.
"I love you."
"I love you too. So much. It hurts," Rosa whispered, a small, sad smile on her lips.
Gina pressed her forehead to Rosa's and soaked in the moment. "You can go whenever you're ready beautiful. You will forever be my soulmate. We will dance in the stars together one day."
"One day," Rosa whispered.

She forced her tired muscles into a smile as the last shimmer left her chocolate eyes, her eyelids gently closed and her heaving chest fell still.
