"She's awake," Gina heard a nurse whisper to the doctor next to her. She nodded at her and the nurse came over to Gina's bedside.
"Hello, how are you feeling?"
"What's wrong with Rosa?"
"Nothing sweetie. You can't be stressing right now, you need to stay nice and calm. I'm going to move you to your own room."
Gina wriggled unhappily and stared at Rosa as she was wheeled out of the room. The raven haired detective looked like Gina had never seen her before... she was sweaty and pale, her neck had been taken out of the brace but she seemed unable to lay still as she fought for every breath.
"Fight, Rosa" Gina whispered under her breath. "Fight so you're still here for me to tell you I love you."*THREE HOURS LATER*
"Is Rosa okay?"
"Miss Linetti, i know it is hard but we are doing everything we can for Miss Diaz. I am not going to have new information every time i come in! Rosa isn't the only one who got hurt today. Try to focus on getting yourself better and let us take care of your friend, okay?"
Gina sighed and rolled onto her side, trying to ignore the screaming pain in her leg. It didn't compare to the pain in her heart though.Gina giggled and ran through to the living room. "Mum," she laughed, "Look at what i found outside-"
"Shhhh, I'm watching TV, show me later."
Gina frowned and turned to face the television. She didn't know what her mum was watching, but she did know that the woman on her screen was breathtakingly stunning. "She is so pretty," she whispered.
It was at that moment 12 year old Gina realised she wasn't quite the same as her friends... well, she wasn't interested in men the way they were. Now, 13 years later, she'd fallen for someone. 12 year old Gina wouldn't have been shocked to find out that it was a girl - she could think of a few other people that definitely wouldn't be shocked. Amy Santiago, for starters. She hadn't hidden her little smiles and awkward efforts to leave her and Rosa alone very well. She was beyond in love with her. Everything the detective did made her heart skip a beat.
She wondered if she would ever get to tell her... but something told her she already knew.
