S2 Chapter 9: Origin of the curse (II)

Kasuno continued her story, feeling safer than ever with Kakashi's arms wrapped around her.

"The peace of Yamada tribe didn't last for too long. The shaman's family has been targeted for the power they posses; they were kidnapped, experimented, raped and murdered. The last straw was the war. The neighboring kingdoms got together to take the Yamada tribe, but they were losing miserably. The war dragged on for years. The streets filled with dead bodies from starvation of normal citizens to pieces of flesh they were able to retrieve from the war zone.

The neighboring kingdoms knew they were about to lose, but they weren't going to lose alone. So they gathered thousands of bombs...and bombed the Yamada tribe's wall. It crushed thousands of innocent people. But they didn't stop there, they bombed inside the wall too and killed almost everyone. Mass killing and hunting for the people of Yamada went on for weeks.

But the shaman survived....and she was able to travel back in time, before the wall was bombed....The shaman opened the gates and let the enemies in so the enemy wouldn't have to bomb the wall and kill innocent people. She made the Yamada tribe lose the war on purpose. The enemies took over the Yamada tribe and it became part of a long lasting Kingdom in the Land of Wind.

But those who lost their loved ones during the invasion blamed the shaman. She was marked a traitor.....The king's wife and children originally survived but because she changed the future, they died. The king went insane."

Kasuno stopped and silence engulfed the dark room.

"Kakashi?"

"Hmm?" He tuck a strand of hair behind her ears.

"Do you think the shaman did the right thing?"

He took a deep breath and she could feel the way his chest moved "In this world, nothing is as simple as right or wrong. Nothing is simply black or white. But she saved many of her comrade, didn't she? In my eyes, that shaman is a hero."

"Do you...want to hear what happened next?" She tightened her grip on his clothes, not having the guts to meet his eyes.

"What's wrong Kasuno-chan?"

"I'm scared....that if you hear what's next, you'll see me differently."

Kakashi felt his heart tighten. Suddenly, he couldn't breathe like he was trapped underwater "Kasuno-chan, we've been through so much. Can't you....believe in me more?"

"Kakashi—"

He smiled, placing a kiss at the top of her head "So, what happened next? Are you really Orochimaru's daughter? Or do you have a tailed beast inside you?"

"How could you joke at a time like this." She playfully slapped his chest.

He winced "I hate seeing you sad. So, what happened after?"

She took a deep breath "The king used a forbidden spell and sold his soul to the death reaper. With a blood sacrifice, he cursed the shaman and her generations to come.

Those who peak through time shall only see blood shed and death of the people around her. But she herself shall physically die slowly, wishing death would take her sooner.

If one attempts to open the door to the future, she shall face the heaven's wrath. She shall suffer and face heavy consequences for trying to change fate as it is.

The chakra targets the brain and slowly kills you. It takes away everything from you. Even your will to live. I...We can't choose to see the future anymore. It chooses us. Death comes to us. We dream about the death of others...but it feels like we've lived through it yet we can't do anything. We die over and over but we still open our eyes, waiting for death to end our suffering—"
