Scott slings his arm companionably around Isaac's shoulders. The curly haired werewolf leans into him. "Fuck man, I'm beat."
He looks at the sky, partly visible through the treetops. It's getting lighter in the East. "It's almost morning," Scott says, shaking his friend a little. "Let's go get some sleep."
Behind them, Boyd and Erica come jogging up, followed by a large black wolf. The wolf also looks up at the sky and then starts herding them back in the direction of their campsite.
"Derek can be such a mother hen sometimes," Scott says to Isaac, only half joking.
"He gets it from Stiles," his friend answers with a chuckle. "Did you know he made me lunch to take to work the other day? He put fucking baby carrots in a plastic baggy!"
"Who? Derek?"
"Ha, no!" Isaac laughs. "Stiles."
"Figures," Scott replies, also laughing. "He does that with the sheriff too."
It's only a mile or so before they reach their campsite. The small clearing is just big enough for the large family tent they put up. The embers of the campfire they had are still glowing softly. It's been a nice night, the heat of the day gradually lessening to comfortable sleeping temperatures for the night.
Scott zipps the tent open, wincing at the loud noise of the zipper in the quiet forest.
Behind him, Derek is urging his Betas to get inside quickly. He's always more primal when in wolf form, running more on instinct. He can still understand you when you speak to him, though it is as if regular human topics don't matter to him anymore. Erica always says that you're only truly in trouble with Derek when his wolf is angry at you too. Scott wouldn't really know, he doesn't have the warmest relationship with either side of Derek. Regardless, Derek watches out for him and he does the same for Derek. That's what pack does.
And right now, this pack needs to go to bed. Scott and wolf Derek agree on that one wholeheartedly.
Jackson lifts his head when Scott opens up the sleeping cabin; his blue eyes flash in the dark. He's at the far right side of the large bed they made, with Lydia curled up against him.
Scott flashes his eyes back, crawling over Stiles' feet towards where Allison is laying. He gets jostled a little by Derek's large bulk, as the wolf eagerly pushes in behind him. The Alpha often doesn't bother with changing back before going to sleep; he often wakes up human anyway.
"Calm down, dude," Scott grumbles when the bushy tail slaps him in the face. Derek is turning on his spot just like a dog would do, but Scott knows better than to make fun of that. That's Stiles' territory anyway, with his unrelentless dog jokes.
The wolf flops down, half on top of Stiles judging by his friend's sleepy groan of discomfort. It's followed by some wet sounds: the wolf's way of making it up to Stiles.
"Nnhg, no licking," Stiles rumbles half asleep. Then he loops his arm around Derek's hairy neck and snuggles in. "Mmm, soft puppy. Sweet puppy."Scott meets Isaac's eyes over Allison's sleeping form between them. He doesn't quite know whether to laugh or to be horrified and judging by his face Isaac doesn't know either.
Erica and Boyd are the last ones to get in. The blonde girl takes one look at Stiles spooning with the wolf and then quietly snorts a laugh. "That's gonna be fun when Derek wakes up butt naked in a few hours."
