Madison pov
I can't believe that my first volleyball game of junior year is in a few minutes. After lunch, the rest of my classes dragged on. I thought that they would never end! Anyways, I am so excited for the match tonight. The position that I play is libero and I love it! During my freshman year, I was an outside hitter and it's still listed as my second position. When I became a libero, I realized how important a perfect pass was.
"I can wait for people to notice how much you have improved. A lot of people actually prefer you at libero." Elena says. When I became a libero last year, a lot of people said that I hustled more for the ball and that I should have played libero freshman year. Trevor said that it looked like I enjoyed being libero more than outside hitter. (and he wasn't wrong)
"Yeah, I know, but I don't know if Coach is going to let me play libero." I tell Elena.
"Don't worry, Maddie. He will let you play." She says.
"Madison, can I talk to you for a second?" Coach asked. I talked him up.
"Yeah, sure." I answer nervously. I start getting worried. Is he not going to let me start? If I am starting, am I going to be a libero or outside? My mind is racing right now.
"Madison, don't worry. It's nothing serious. I just wanted to let you know that you was going to be starting at libero tonight. I wanted to tell you before you put the jersey on." he says. I let out a sigh of relief.
"Thanks, Coach." I say as I walk back to my locker. Now, I have to pick my jersey. I have three options: light blue, gold, and black. Since we are at home, we are wearing the white jerseys so I can't wear that one. I decided that I will wear the light blue one. When I change into my jersey, my phone vibrates.

Trev 🤑 Hey, I got out of practice early....just wanted to check on u
Me: I am doing fine and guess what?!?!?!
Trev 🤑 what?
Me: I am starting at libero tonight :)
Trev 🤑 That is amazing, Mads! I know how much u wanted to start at libero :)
Me: Ik.....but I'm nervous. What if I don't live up to everyone's expectations
Trev 🤑 Don't worry about what everyone else thinks. If u do that, u will definitely fuck up then. Trust me, Ik.....Quan let the people get to his head during his freshman year. There will always be haters......u have to ignore them and focus on yourself. Ik u will be amazing tho :)

Trevor likes when I wear the light blue jersey. I don't why he likes it so much. I even asked him about it and he wouldn't tell me.
"Why are you blushing, Ms. fallingforT?" Elena says.
"Elena, stop!" I say laughing. She is the only that knows about my feelings for Trevor besides my brother Lucas.
"What? Y'all would be a cute couple." she says. I just roll my eyes at Elena. She has been trying to get Trevor and I to start dating ever since she started dating Messiah.
30 minutes later
We are waiting for the other team to finish warming up when I see Trevor in the bleachers. He is sitting with Lucas and Messiah. I smile and wave. He smiles and waves back. HIS SMILE!!!!!!!
"Stop making puppy eyes at Trevor and come on the court to warm up." Elena said as she blows a kiss at Messiah. After we warm up, we do the coin toss and we get to serve first. The school that we are playing against has a lot of history with us. The school that I go to and play for is called Palm Springs High. The school that we are playing against is Brookwood. Elena starts the serve for the first set. We won 25-16. Brookwood won the second set 18-25. We won the third set 26-24. Then, they came back and won the fourth set 25-23.
"Ok, girls. We are now heading into the fourth set so I need y'all to play your best volleyball." Coach says. When matches go to a fifth set, it's fun because every point and run matters. You have to play clean volleyball in the fifth set.
10 minutes later
The score in the fifth set is 12-14 and Brookwood has match point. It's my turn to serve. I am a pretty decent server. I was second on the team in aces and top 20 in the region. I step behind the line and do my routine.(dribble,dribble,spin,deep breath) I serve back-to-back aces. I hear everyone in the gym yelling, but Trev is definitely yelling the loudest. After I serve again, my teammate, Grace gets a kill for my team. Now, the score is tied at 14. The coach for Brookwood calls a timeout.
"You girls are doing an incredible job! Madison, your serving got us back in the game. Y'all just have to keep this up in order to win this game." Coach tells us. I smile to myself. My serve is definitely one of the most underrated things about my game. After the timeout, I step behind the line and do my routine. After I serve the ball, Elena gets a block. Now, we have match point. Then, I serve the ball again and.......SERVE AN ACE!!!!! I scored match point for the team! I hear everyone in the gym yelling at the top of their lungs as my teammates hug me. Brookwood's fans start to walk out of the gym as our school's fans run out to the court. I run to Trevor and give him a hug. He picks me up and I wrap my legs around his waist.
"You had me nervous as hell." he says laughing.
"I know. I was nervous too." I say as he hugs me tighter.
"I was scared when you ran into the table." he says. I was saving the ball and ran into a table in the gym. I hustle for every ball.
"I am definitely going to feel it in the morning." I say. We both started laughing. I'm glad to have a friend like Trevor to laugh with. I hear my brother clear his throat and Trevor puts me down.
"I'm sorry, Lucas." I say.
"It's okay, I guess. Mom is on another business trip and she won't be back until Sunday." He tells me. I hate when my mom goes on business trips. She doesn't answer her phone when Luc and I try to call her.
"Ok, thanks for telling me." I tell Luc as I walk back to the locker room. When I change my clothes, I walk outside and see Trevor instead of Lucas.
"Where's Luc?" I asked him.
"He went to his girlfriend's house. He said he had to help her with homework, so I'm taking you home." he answers. As we walk to the car, I wonder if I should ask Trev if we could get Chick-fil-a.
"Trevor, can we get Chick-fil-a?" I asked him.
"Of course. Anything for you." he said smiling. I turn my face so he won't see me blushing. When we get to his car, he opens the passenger door. He sits on the driver's side and turns the car on so we can go to Chick-fil-a.
