Met the Newbies

. . .

Now we all moved up to international level, were Team USA! Coach Bombay took us to a rink and we saw 5 new players that will be on our team. I saw a guy in a South Miami jersey, he's pretty cute. I gave Connie a smile then looked back at him. We made eye contact, I smiled at him and he smiled back. Then I looked at Coach because he started to talk to Mr. Tibbles.

"Tell me about my new kids."

Mr. Tibbles started to to talk, but I just watched as the boy in the Miami jersey raced around the rink. The only thing I heard was his name, Luis Mendoza. He kept looking back at me while I just watched and was pretty impressed then just smiled. Connie was next to me and nudged me while giving me the "really?" look. Then Connie laughed and looked up at me. She then smirked and opened her big mouth.

"Good looking skater." She said as she looks back at Mendoza.

"Very good looking, what do you think Guy?" Averman says as me and Connie look at each other then we both look at Guy.

"Shut up Averman." Guy says as he elbows Averman.

When Averman fell on the ground all dramatic. We all started to laugh, well expect for Averman.

"Yeah, but he really his." I said to Connie.

Guy and Averman overheard me and started to laugh. Then I heard Mendoza laugh a little bit and looked at him smiling at me.

"I think he heard that AJ." Guy said while he was laughing. Then I elbowed Guy, but not to much so he would fall over.

Then I hear Mr. Tibbles say something abut him not being able to stop, then Luis slammed into the glass. The other newbies skated towards him and ask him if he's ok. He gets up and takes his helmet off and says.

"I almost had it that time."

I started to laugh at him, but then stared at him. He looked at me and we both smiled at each other. I mouthed to him "Are you ok?" and he nodded his head and rubbed the back of his neck.

There was another guy that was good with puck work, Dwayne Robertson, he was a cowboy or something like that. He had a accent and he was from Texas. Mr. Tibbles said that Robertson was the best puck handler he has ever seen. I also have to agree with that, he was really good.

Next was a girl who is a goalie from Maine, her name is Julie "the cat" Gaffney. I was so happy when I heard that we were getting another girl since Tammy wouldn't play any more. State champ three years in a row in Maine. Coach was stuck on Goldberg. So  me and Connie took shots at her, and nothing got through her. Coach admit that she was good.

"We could use a back up." Coach Bombay said as he admits.

Then Ken Wu from the Olympics was there. Apparently since he joined hockey because Mr. Tibbles convinced him to play hockey instead of ice skating. Ever since he started to play, apparently no one could lay a finger on him. He did cool tricks and spins while it was his turn to show off.

Than a giant in all black was wearing headphones and listening to music. His name is Dean Portman. There weren't even any sleeves on his shirt at all. He was singing loudly to his song and was rude to everyone. He kept pushing the Ducks down and made them fall over, He screamed in peoples faces and was making us uncomfortable.
