Rain'Ella POV
Orlando had invited me out on a date. I hadn't really gotten the chance to hang out with him so far, so I was happy to go out with him.
I put in a black crop top and some white jeans. I put on some black Nikes and straightened my hair. I put on some make-up and some jewelry. I could say I looked hella good.
I got in my car that I had just bought for myself the week prior and drove to this restaurant that serves French food. I parked my car and got out. I went into the restaurant to see Orlando sitting at a table texting and looking irritated at whoever was texting him. I wasn't sure what that was about, and it wasn't my business so I went and sat down.
"Hey Orlando." I said with a smile.
"Hey Rain." his face lit up and he got up and I got up and we hugged.
"I missed you." I said as I inhaled his scent.
"I missed you too. You smell nice." he said.
"You too." I said as I sat back down.
He was looking good. His beard was trimmed down to just a small patch of short hair on his chin. He had shaven his hair down to a low cut with waves. His caramel skin glistened and was clear as day. He wore a black polo shirt with some khaki pants.
"You look nice." I said smiling.
"You too. You still have that beautiful smile." he said.
"Thank you." I said blushing and smiling.
"So how have you been?" he asked.
"I've been great." I said happily.
"Here are your menus." the waitress said once she came over.
She was a blonde haired, blue eyed white girl who stared at Orlando like he was a piece of meat. I laughed at her unprofessional and disrespectful ass. She didn't even look at me. Orlando didn't give her any attention and probably didn't notice her staring at him.
"What are you gonna get?" he asked.
"I want the crescents and the quiche Lorraine" I said.
"I want the escargot and the rack of lamb." he said.
"I guess I'll take a red wine." I said.
"I think I just want beer." he said.
He ain't getting no kiss after this date. Beer is nasty and I do not want to taste that on his mouth. I saw the waitress coming back this time with her top unbuttoned a little. I shook my head at her.
Slut.
"Are you ready to order?" she said in what sounded like she was trying to make a seductive voice, but it just came out like she was trying to shit. She stared at Orlando intensely.
"I want the embargo and the rack of lamb." he said.
"And for you?" she said dryly looking in my direction finally.
I recognised her. She used to be in Trina crew back in high school. I shook my head. I guess some people never change. It looked like she had gotten a been job since then.
"I want the fillet mignon, the quiche Lorraine," I said.
"Okay. I'll send the waiter out with you all's meals. I'll come back later to see what desert you want." she said before walking off.
"So, what have you been up to?" I asked.
"Work. I'm a chiropractor. I'm lucky I was free today. I usually always have to go to work even on Sundays." he said sounding annoyed.
"I hope you love your job then." I said.
"I do. I love helping people. My mom had a curved spine, so that kind of gave me the drive to help others." he said.
"I remember. What's she been up to?" I asked.
"She passed three years ago." he said lowering his eyes.
"I'm so sorry. She was a great woman. She's in a better place." I said.
I loved his mom. She was so nice and hugged me and conversed with me every time I came around. I wanted to cry because she died and I missed her funeral, and also because Orlando never told me about this until now even though I had kept in contact with him for the past five years. Nobody told me and it made me wonder why.
"Why you didn't tell me she died? I would have flew here and came to her funeral." I said.
"Nah. I didn't want you to miss anything over there. I couldn't have you missing tests or something over there to come way down here." he said.
"Still." I said.
"Here is your order." the waiter said as he sat our food down.
"Can I get a glass of wine?" I asked.
"Red or white?" he asked.
"Red." I said.
"And for you sir?" the waiter asked.
"A beer." Orlando said.
"Alright. Ill be back in a couple minutes." the waiter said before walking away.
"Look, I'm sorry I didn't tell you." he said.
"It's okay." I said.
"So how was it out there in D.C.?" he asked.
"It was fun, but I missed y'all the whole time I was gone. I thought about you every day." I said smiling at him.
"Yea. What we had was good." he said.
"Yea. I wish we hadn't broken up." he said.
"Me too." I said as the waiter came back. I took my glass of wine and sipped on it.
We ate in silence. We would look at each other and smile every now and then. It wasn't an awkward silence, it was a comfortable silence. It was something of us just bonding again, but without words.
"That was food. It hit the spot." he said.
"Here comes blondy." I said.
"I'll take your plates. Do you all know what desert you want?" she asked.
"I want cherry clafoutis." I said.
"I'll have the same Orlando said still ignoring the blonde. She got the message and walked away.
"That bitch is annoying." Orlando mumbled while looking at his phone. He put it in his pocket and looked around while signing
angrily.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"Just this girl texting me. I don't even talk to her but she keeps bothering me." he said.
"Oh. Tell her you're not interested." I said
"Here's the desert." the waiter said bringing over a huge deep dish full of the French version of cherry pie.
My mouth watered. I took my fork and scooped up a big hunk and put it on my smaller plate. I started eating it.
"Would you like a refill on your wine?" he asked
"Yes please." I said.
The wine was really good. Maybe I'll come back just for the wine and this good ass cherry clafoutis. Orlando seemed to be enjoying it too.
I had a pretty good time with Orlando. Maybe we could start back where we left off. I would like that. Can we be together again?
