Vinnie's POV

"I just spoke to the hospital, they said we're too late," Olivia thumped her head against the wall in frustration.

"Holy shit, Olivia I'm so sorry, is there anything I can-

"Since visiting hours are over, we can go in tomorrow instead,"

I paused to look at her as it dawned on me that her foster mother wasn't actually dead, we were just too late to visit her at that time of day.

"So uh- what do we do now?" I cleared my throat in embarrassment at the misunderstanding.

"We'll need to find a hotel to stay in for the next couple of nights, we'll be lucky if we even find a decent one close by on such short notice," she grimaced in annoyance while searching for a nearby über on her phone so we could leave the airport before a sleek black car appeared at the pick up point. "Oh! There's a taxi right there, Vinnie hurry up we need to go,"

"Go where?"

"There's a Hilton Hotel about 10 minutes away from here, we'll go see if there are any rooms available there, there has to be something, who books a hotel room the night before Christmas?"

Olivia then made her way into the cab without another word and I quickly followed suit.

"Hilton Hotel please," she politely asked. The driver nodded and before we knew it, we were inside the lobby of the most expensive looking hotel I'd ever seen.

"Welcome to the Hilton Hotel, how can I help you?" A young man in his 20's smiled at us warmly.

"Hello, we'd like two hotel rooms for the next three nights," Olivia requested.

"I'm afraid we only have one room available, fortunately it's our best suite with a LOT of space, however it doesn't come cheap,"

"No problem, I'll pay for it," she shrugged and took out a black credit card. When I noticed the bill on the card machine, a cold chill shook my body to the point in which I thought I was going to blackout.

"Liv are you sure you should be-

"I'm smart with my money, this won't be a problem,"

"It's 50,000 pounds! There's no way you'll be able to have that cleared, you're 17," I nervously tried to reason with her. At that very moment, the card machine beeped and an green tick appeared on its screen which indicated a successful purchase.

"I'm a 17 year old who has a net worth of 2 million after being discovered less than five months ago," she tucked her card back in her purse, took the room key, thanked the guy at the desk and headed straight for the elevator.

Oh wow.

Olivia's POV

I sat on the bed using my phone while Vinnie unpacked his stuff, fresh out of the shower. It would be a blatant lie if I said he didn't look good- the man was literally shirtless and wearing a grey pair of joggers! Judge me if you will but there is NO shame in my game.

"Are you sure you're okay with sleeping in the same bed, Liv? I know we've done it before but that was before I fucked up," he awkwardly hovered near the end of the bed, clearly contemplating whether it would be okay for him to get in or not.

"It's fine, we can be perfectly mature about this," I replied while climbing into bed. However, maybe that was the wrong choice to make, even if it was probably the smartest one, somehow it felt super dumb too.

"Yeah, I just- I know I fucked up, Liv, it may be really hard to believe or see right now, but I genuinely do care about you, that's why it sucks that my dumbass has no clue on how to act around you, somehow I keep on making things worse. But I swear, I'm going to make it right, you're too important for me to lose,"

My body froze up under the covers at his sudden confession, but I felt my chest and face get warmer too. It was clear that he meant every word that was said, both his voice and facial expression were genuine. No words came out of my mouth, everything went blank.

"You really hurt me Vinnie," I whispered so quietly he could've pretended to have not heard me.

"There's not a single day that goes by in which I don't regret adding more pain to a gorgeous soul like yours," he whispered back. "I'm gonna make things better, trust me,"

"I did," was all I could reply, and with that, an unsettling silence blanketed the room.

What else was I supposed to say? I missed him a lot, but by now it's pretty well known that I haven't had the most honest people around me. James, Liza, Noah, even Vinnie himself. Trusting was something I had never found easy, but ever since arriving in LA, it had become ten times more difficult. However, there was still a very sickening thought that rested in the back of my head that I was too scared to address out loud.

"Vinnie?"

"Yes Olivia?"

"Do you- do you think my mum's going to be okay?"

"She will be, nothing's gonna go wrong, she has her incredible daughter watching over her,"

"I hadn't spoken to her in three weeks, I was too worried about the show, looking back on it, the entire thing seems so small compared to this, I really fucked up,"

"You got caught up in the bustle of the city like anyone else would, I'm sure she won't blame you,"

"She won't but- I let her down big time,"

"Don't worry, we're gonna see her tomorrow and everything will be fine,"

"Thank you, Vin," it had been a while since I had used that nickname, and it almost felt foreign to say out loud... but it definitely felt right. A quiet fanfare began to play from my phone to alert us it was officially the 25th of December and I quickly shut it off.

"Merry Christmas, Olivia,"

"Too bad it's not such a Merry Christmas,"
