Alicia's POV: He looked at me, he knows i was spying. i felt like such an idiot, some stranger stared at me like i was an pariah. I basically am. Before he could stare any further, i scrambled off. Walking briskly down the allyway i made my way to the busy street, i walked along the sidewalk thinking about that strange boy, niall i think his name was. Instead of wrinkling his nose out at me, he just simply stared, like he knew my lifes story. Impossible, he would never know who i was. And i will never tell. He is the only man who ever actually looked at me like i was a human being.

When i finally arrived at samantha's house it was turning 6, the snow was falling slowly, magic like. I walked into the house and smelled a chicken roasting. "Sam i'm here" i yelled, she was the only friend i ever had in new york. "Hey al, wanna go to a bar tonight?" she yelled from upstairs, a bar? what was she thinking, "what type of bar?" i walked up the stairs towards her room, "the lookies bar", the bar where i saw Niall. He's playing tonight.

"Yeah come here" she beckoned me towards her closet, sam usually lets be borrow clothes, to go out and sneak around. "Whew you stink al, whens the last time you took a bath?" "uhm, maybe 3 weeks ago" i muttered, "go. take. a. bath!" she sputtered, grabbing my hand, she walked to the bathroom and turned on the shower, "get in" she ordered.

I took off my filthy clothes as she closed the bathroom door, the hot water felt amazing on my scalp. A soothing feeling overcame my body as a scrubbed the shampoo into my hair, a sigh swept over me as i finished washing my hair and body. Turning off the shower i dried off and pulled on a bathrobe, i looked in the mirror and saw a skinny, scrawny, ugly girl in the mirror, a girl with a million scars and never time to heal.
