Briseis was at the training ground, she was doing some stretches till she heard someone say;
" I hope that you did not wait long "
Briseis turned around, fully expecting to see Polydora, but it was not Polydora.
" Who are you? " said Briseis, as it took a moment to take in the woman's overwhelming beauty.
" I am Thetis "
Briseis froze for a moment.
Thetis had long blond hair; like dripping drops of melted gold. Her piercing blue eyes were enough to start wars over, and her sweet voice was like the calm sea. But most desired of all; was her warrior physique.
" Goddess... " said Briseis, as she bowed, lips dry.
Thetis had a confused smile on her face.
" Why are you so formal? We are like family "
The words were like the sea in spring, soft and warm.
Briseis slowly raised her gaze, she had always wondered how Polydora was so beautiful and strong, she now knew the answer.
" My daughter has allowed me to be your sparring partner for the day, " said Thetis with a warm and welcoming smile.
Briseis' throat was now dry.
" I am honored... but, your grace- "
" Please don't be so formal. Just call me Thetis "
" I am honored... Thetis, but I stand no chance against someone like yourself. I heard that you went toe-to-toe with the god of war during the Trojan War "
Thetis let out a soft giggle.
" Yeah " said she, as she was remembering the battle; " Ares got a few good hits in, but I was ready to drop Neptune on his ass " said Thetis with a warrior's smile.
The goddess now picked up a staff, she also threw one to Briseis.
Briseis held the staff, it was also in that moment she could feel how sweaty her palms were.
" I am not that good of a fighter... "
" My daughter tells me otherwise "
" Really...? " uttered Briseis, as she felt a warmth in her chest.
" Polydora is always singing your praises, which is why I am here " said Thetis, as she entered a stance.
Briseis now felt like she could not disappoint her teacher. She calmed her fast beating heart, she dried her palms, she took up a fighting stance, and Thetis now saw the confident smile on her face.
" Here I come, " said Briseis.
