According to Plan

"Do you have to go?" Robert asked between kisses. His hard body pinned his wife against the front door as he gave her a smoldering kiss.

Breathless Andy replied, "What kind of friend would I be if I cancelled on wedding planning with my best friend so we could have sex." She asked rhetorically.

"An honest one," Robert replied with a mischievous grin.

Andy shook her head, reached up and placed one last chaste kiss on Robert's lips before maneuvering free. "I love you. I'll see you tonight."

With that, Andy headed out the door and drove over to Maya and Carina's place. She had agreed to help them get the details planned for their wedding. When she arrived Maya was in the shower, having just come in from a run. Carina was cooking and normally Andy couldn't wait to dig in because Carina was an amazing cook, but this time was different. As soon as she hit the kitchen, her nose turned up and she made a beeline for the front bathroom and threw up. After calming herself down, rinsing her mouth out with mouthwash she headed back to the main area.

"That was weird," Andy said casually as she grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge.

"How far along are you?" Carina asked with a gentle smile. "Maya hasn't said anything, so I take it she doesn't know."

Andy looked at Carina like she had two heads. "What are you talking about?" She took another drink of her water.

"Andy, you're pregnant. Don't tell me..." Carina answered, but couldn't finish. She looked at the woman who had become a good friend over the past few months and saw confusion on her face.

Interrupting Carina quickly, Andy said. "No I'm not." She shook her head and stood her ground.

With a voice more chipper than Andy was comfortable with, Carina asked. "Are you sure?" She was quiet for a moment before adding. "Andy, you're glowing..."

"I've been drinking more water." Andy replied with a firm expression, motioning to the bottle still in her hand.

"Have you been more tired than usual? Like exhausted sometimes?" Carina inquired further.

"A little..." Andy said with a grin thinking about her and Robert's very active sex life. "...but Robert and I don't always get enough sleep if you know what I mean."

"And you're feeling queasy at certain smells?" Carina added calmly.

"Everyone gets queasy with weird smells." Andy insisted. Despite the rising anxiety this line of questioning was fueling in her.

"Feeling a little moody? Happy, crying at stupid commercials or easily annoyed?" Carina continued her interrogation, certain that Andy was pregnant and just hadn't realized.

"That describes every woman at that time of the month." Andy replied with a shrug of her shoulder. She knew herself, if she was pregnant, she would know it.

"Okay," Carina said and turned back to the pots she had on the stove. Clearly Andy didn't want to admit it was a possibility, but she would be there when the other woman was ready.

A couple hours later, the three friends were seated at the dining room table with papers, magazine pictures and laptops figuring out the details for the upcoming nuptials. Andy had been plagued all afternoon by Carina's inquiry and despite her very fervent attempts to dismiss Carina's assessment, she couldn't help but acknowledge how she had been experiencing everything Carina said. She had an IUD and was pretty sure that the actual chances of pregnancy with one of those was like 1% but that still meant there was a chance.

Out of nowhere Andy blurted out. "Ohmigod. I think I'm pregnant!" Her face was a mix of terror and excitement.

Maya looked at her friend with wide eyes, Carina yelped with glee and it was chaos for a moment. But quickly the friends got up from the table, loaded into the car and headed to Grey Sloan to be sure. A few hours later, after picking up her car from Maya's, Andy sat out front of her and Robert's place with a white envelope in her hand. It held a grainy, black and white ultrasound picture of their baby. Placing a gentle hand on her stomach she thought, what the hell are we gonna do now.

Initially she considered not saying anything right away, to give herself some time to figure out how she felt about this, but dismissed the idea knowing Robert wouldn't let her rest until she told him what was bothering her. She headed inside, thinking she would find some time to bring it up over dinner.

"Hey," Robert looked up from the island, where he was prepping dinner and smiled at his wife. "How was...?" Before he could finish Andy interrupted him.

When Andy saw him standing there, jeans and a button down rolled up to his forearm, kitchen towel thrown over his shoulder. He looked handsome and amazing and he was hers. She was terrified about being a mother, but she also loved this man and wanted to have children with him. With her next breath, Andy couldn't help the words that came out of her mouth. "I'm pregnant." She said, holding up the small white envelope.

Robert dropped the kitchen towel to the counter, moved from behind the island and stared at the woman he loved in front of him. "Did you just say..." Surprise, excitement and awe played out over his face.

"That we're having a baby." Andy nodded her head. "Before she could say anything else Robert closed the distance, scooped her up into a tight hug and kissed her. Tears pricked at her eyes. "You're not upset?" Her voice was a bit muffled.

Confused, Robert pulled back just slightly and looked at his wife with a gentle smile. "Why would I be upset?"

"We haven't talked about this...I have an IUD, it's not even supposed to be possible, it's totally unplanned and too soon. Life has just started to calm down for us..." Andy started to ramble on but her monologue was quickly interrupted by Robert's lips on hers.

When he pulled back, Robert whispered, "Nothing about us has gone according to plan and I wouldn't change a thing. I love you and adding a baby to our family will be amazing."
