It has been two moons since the young cats' apprentice ceremonies. Whitepaw and Lightpaw were now on a rock watching the sunset. "It's relaxing to watch the sunset together," Lightpaw mewed drowsily. Whitepaw nodded in agreement. The two had their tails twined together. "What do you think'll happen tomorrow?" Lightpaw wondered, gazing into the blood red sky. "Beats me," Whitepaw muttered, then sat up. "It's getting late. Let's go to the den." They both sat up and padded to the den where the apprentices slept.

The leaf-fall air was chilly, making Lightpaw shiver. Suddenly, she felt colder. Blackpaw was curled around her. Lightpaw rolled her eyes and rolled elsewhere. Blackpaw glared but said nothing from drowsiness. The air grew colder and colder as moonhigh reached its peak. Lightpaw shivered and rolled around, trying to find a comfortable spot. Lightpaw bumped into Whitepaw's side. He felt soft and warm, making Lightpaw purr softly and curled up beside him, eventually falling asleep.
