Making probably not my best decision, I walk into the bar. The smell of liquor and cigars fills my nose. I turn to walk out but stop when I realize, what's the point of a decision if all you're going to do is turn back around? I make my way to the bar and find a seat by a stranger.
"What can I get you, miss?"
"Bourbon, please."
"Coming right up." The bartender disappears in the crowd behind the table.
I look towards the stranger to my left... Damn, he was gorgeous. He was wearing a tight t-shirt that hugged his muscles perfectly with dark jeans snuggly wrapped around his waist. His dirty blonde hair tousled in a good natural way that made it look so sexy you just had to run your fingers through. And from the side, his eyes were like ice. Pale blue and intense.
He turns toward me with a smirk perfectly planted on his face.
"May I help you?" His deep, velvety voice questions laced with humor.
I am at a loss for words. Nothing pops in my head; I don't want to say anything that would make me sound like a moron. So I just stare at him... like a moron. Smooth Raelynn.
"I'm Nicholas." He sticks out his hand for me to shake.
I mentally slap myself repeatedly in the face so I can focus on the sexy beast in front of me.
"Raelynn." I say as I take his hand.
"Hot."
I can feel my face heat up as I blush. "Thanks," I mumble.
"What brings you here. You don't look like someone who comes often."
"Well, there are many reasons to as why I'm here. All of which, I preferably do not want to talk about. What about you?"
For a second the look in his eyes hardens, but then they relax and he smiles. "Ah you know, reasons."
"Hmmm?"
The bartender places the half full glass in front of me and I take a sip of the. The familiar amber liquid easily slides down my throat, giving me a tingling sensation. I turn back to Nicholas only to find him watching me with amusement.
"Tell me, Raelynn. Have you ever ordered any thing other than that?"
I hesitantly shake my head and he looks at me with a fake shock expression as if he already knew the answer.
"Really?" He asks just to confirm it.
"Yeah, I've just gotten use to it and don't really want to try anything else."
"Well Ms. Raelynn, you better get ready for the time of your life. We're going to try every bottle of liquor in this bar."
"What?" I ask startled.
"All on me." He momentarily turns his attention away from me as he calls the bartender over, "A shot of tequila with salt and a lime for me and the lovely lady please."
Boy if I only knew that was the beginning of my night.
~~~
"Rae, you should be on the ground by now." Nicholas states as we finish what seems like our fifteenth glass of liquor.
"No, my tolerance level is up here." I show him as I jump up and down like a child.
He lets out a laugh, "Yup, you're definitely drunk."
