My mother has always tried to be rid of her shape
She has done everything she could to change it
I understand why
And I'm proud of her for achieving her goals
But she never embraced her curves
She never embraced her stretch marks
She never embraced her rosy cheeks
She never embraced her body for how it was
I suppose that's why she doesn't understand why I'm happy the way I am
I've embraced the way I look
And the things that set me apart from the crowd
Because without those who would I be
Everyone else?- and why would I want that
