"Are you going?" you leaned against the beam at the front corner of Helios's stall, watching Octavia brush him.
"No way," the small chuckle in her voice has you knocking the side of your head against the wooden beam you're leaned on. "Fancy parties aren't my thing."
"It's not fancy."
"Do you have to dress up nicely?" you don't respond. "Exactly. Fancy."
"I'm jealous you're not being forced to go," you grumbled, pushing yourself off the beam.
"I'll be cheering you on from out here, don't worry," Octavia reassured with a chuckle in the back of her throat, looking over Helios's back at you.
"How nice of you," you cross your arms over your chest.
"You know, the more time you spend out here, the more your dad's gonna chew you out about this," Octavia said.
"I see how it is . . . trying to get rid of me," you teased.
"Me? Never," she played along, before she shooed you away; but not before the two of you continued to tease one another that ended up with your back against Helios's stall and her face dangerously close to yours.

You enter the hangar, your mind travelling to the moment you and Octavia had, but soon shake it from your thoughts and take in the large space. The party's in full swing; music blares through a set of speakers Raven rigged, people of all kinds dancing wildly on the dance-floor with drinks in their hands.
Most of the older adults hang on the edges, sipping their drinks and chatting amongst themselves.
You smooth your dress down, suddenly subconscious of the way you look, especially the way the dress hugs you that seems almost inappropriate, even though it's not.
"Relax."
You jump, the tickling of their lips on your ear scaring you half to death. "Never do that again," you close your eyes to steady your heart back to normal.
When it somewhat returns to normal-ish, you spin around and shove Octavia's shoulder. "Hey! What was that for?"
You slit your eyes, "Really?"
She smiles, then let's her eyes wander the length of your body, not even feeling shameful of doing so. "You look good, Y/N/N."
You roll your eyes and fold your arms over your stomach, hunching over slightly, "I look terrible."
"Y/N, you came!" you father happily said, walking over to you and Octavia —who stands mighty close— with Abby on his trail.
"Kane. Abby," Octavia greeted in her own way.
"Hello, girls," Abby said, once she was close enough to not be completely yelling over the music.
"What brings you here, Octavia? I thought you weren't coming?" Kane asked, suspiciously eyeing the two of you, as does Abby.
"Your daughter."
You feel your cheeks flare, and you look down at the ground. "Dad," you snapped under your breath, thinking he could hear you.
A song then comes on and a hand rests on the small of your back, "Let's dance."
Your head is perked back up, brows knitting and head whipping around to Octavia as she leads you away from your father and Abby. "What? I thought these aren't your thing? Or, dancing, for that matter."
You yelp in surprise when Octavia spins you, then brings you closely to her chest by your hands. "They're not, but you are," she said like it was nothing while you were internally freaking out.
You liked Octavia since the moment you saw her when she came to what's now Arkadia. You had come down with your father and Abby in the Ark.
The song was upbeat, multiple couples and/or friends dancing happily with one another. You laugh, all of your nerves from Octavia's nonchalant comment fading when she starts to wiggle your guys' arms around in a funny matter when she felt how rigid and stiff your body had become under her touch.
"Octavia!" you screeched, your eyes squinting as you laugh.
She whirls you around and brings your back to her chest, her lips brushing against your cheek when you turn your head. She laughs, her lips curling against your cheek that causes goosebumps to prickle up on your skin.
The music and commotion of the hangar muffle, like your head is under water. No one else was in the room but you and Octavia.
You slowly turn to face her, your e/c eyes locking with her piercing green ones. She brushes her nose with yours, your lips curling when you seal your lips to hers.
Fireworks lit inside of your body, your arms linking together around Octavia's neck. Her hands stay firmly on your waist, until you pull away—they moved together on the small of your back again.
You lean your forehead against hers and smile, "I hope my dad didn't just see that."
She chuckles, and removes her forehead from yours. A perfectly arched brow raises, a smirk curling on her lips, "Wanna get out of here?"
