VALENCIA DE LÉON

I park my bike into one of the stalls and get out the key to lock it. I look up at the sky and close my eyes, enjoying the feeling of the sun's rays dancing on my freckles.

I look back to Victoria and see her finishing locking her bike and as she stands up and meets my gaze she smiles.

"You ready?" She asks and as we link arms I laugh at her enthusiasm.

As we walk down the street we fall into a conversation about what instruments we play.

"I would never assume you were the type to play drums? More like a guitar or piano-girl, you know, the soft ballades kind of songs." Vic looks at me stunned and I can't help but blush at her sudden reaction.

"Nope, it's always been drums. Ever since like middle school when our music teacher told us we had to play a solo to pass the class." I say feeling nostalgic as I think back to middle school and the ugly, really ugly, bangs I used to have.

"Do you still play?" She asks as I hold the door for her to enter the small record shop.

"No, not good at least. I haven't played since I was like 16."

Entering the shop, a gust of cool wind ran past us and the smell of cinnamon filled my senses. On the walls a series of fairy lights were hung with vintage records and posters of old musicians hanging beneath them. The atmosphere in the shop filled with some old jazz vinyl playing.

Shelf after shelf was neatly placed in corridor like lines and each of them were filled to the brim with records. Labels with names such as "classic rock" and "Robert Johnson" placed onto the shelfs.

"I think I just entered heaven." I mumble and directly cross over to the section labeled as "80's rock".

My fingers flick through the different records and vinyls and as each slip through my fingers I feel myself smiling as I watch the different names of different albums.

"You know, we could always ask Ethan to practice with you? He loves to teach the drums, he's tried to teach Thomas, Damiano and I to play but none of us get it. It would probably be refreshing for him to meet someone with "talent"." I laugh as Victoria makes air quotes at talent.

"I would really like that." I pause from flicking through records and look up to smile at her.

She smiles back and then continues to vigorously flick through the "rock n roll" section.

We continue to flick through records after records for the next hour or so and decide to go get lunch before we get too starved.
