Chapter 5

~2 months later~

"Lucas!" Loud laughs escaped my small mouth as i watched the silly man-child playing with one of my bras out of the laundry basket.

"Really I think this color does wonders for your complexion love." His smile was more than evident.

I buried my head in a pillow in an attempt to hide the rosiness my cheeks had taken on. Ava sat in Luke's basket of laundry throwing clothes every which way. Ava laughed clapping her hands wildly.

"That's right Ava you're mommy is silly!" We both chuckled and slowly but surely finished folding and putting away the laundry.

"Can we go out tonight? I'm so tired of being mommy all of the time. I need a night out of this apartment!" I whined giving Luke the best puppy face I could manage.

"Will Calum watch Ava?" His smile lengthening by the second.

"Duh!" I practically screamed in anticipation.

"Well then let's go clubbing!" He yelled pinching my cheeks.

I swatted him away, handing him Ava so that I could get ready. Looking at the time I realized that if Luke and I wanted to get dinner before going to the club, I'd have to hurry. I placed my hair in hot curlers, and quickly began doing my makeup. I decided to go with a smokey eye with red lips, which looked stunning with my little black dress. It was a simple lace party dress that stopped mid thigh showing off the tattoos on my thighs.
On my right thigh was a compass with the words 'guid me home' written above it, on my left thigh was an hour glass that said 'what time can't heal, heal yourself'. I find them beautiful and unique, the dress showed them off nicely. After admiring my reflection for a moment, I pulled my hair out of the curlers, tousling it lightly with my fingers as I walked down the hall.

"Wow." Was all the boys could say as their mouths hung wide open.

"Careful boys, that's how you catch flies." Their mouths shut quickly causing me to laugh quietly.

"You look amazing." Luke mumbled guiding us out the door into the cold winter night.

"Thanks." I mumbled facing him, wrapping my arms around his waist as we waited for a cab.

I had lost Luke the moment we arrived, he was supposedly getting drinks for the both of us but I couldn't find him anywhere near the bar. The club was loud and obnoxious, the smell of alcohol was overly apparent. Giving up my search for Luke, I headed directly for the dance floor, I was trapped amongst the tide of sweaty bodies.

Dancing got old quite quickly, and I began to search for Luke, I wanted nothing more than to go home and lie down with my daughter. I was wrong, the club scene was definitely not for me. After completing a full lap around the dance floor, and a search around the club, I decided to just let Luke do his thing. A text was the next best solution, as I really wanted to go home.

'Hey Lukey, I'm gonna head back to the flat. Have fun, see you at home (: xx' I hit send, then finally started to walk the 3 blocks home.

Quickly and quietly, I opened the door hoping not I wake Calum or Ava. My attention was soon averted to the couch where Calum was sound asleep with Ava curled on his chest, soft snores escaping both of their lips. The serene moment was soon interrupted by my phone ringing loudly in my clutch.

"Hello?" I whispered, Calum began to stir in his sleep.

"Hey, where are you?!" Luke almost yelled through the phone.

"Didn't you get my text? I told you I was going home, I walked back to the flat." I had maneuver my way through the mess of toys in the living room, and was now sitting on my bed.

"Oh no! I would've walked with you. I'm on my way back now though, do you think I could spend the night?" I could hear the pout in his voice.

"I'm sure Cal wouldn't mind, you practically live here anyway." We both giggled before saying our goodbyes and ending the call.

Luke walked in the front door shortly after, his hair slightly damp from the soft drizzle outside. He helped me clean the living room, before deciding to shower. Once he had finished his shower, we decided to watch a movie in my room and let Calum get to his own bed.

"Will you go pick out a movie? I need to get Ava ready for bed." I whispered nodding my head in the direction of the bedroom.

"Of course." He smiled softly before disappearing into my bedroom.

I gently lifted Ava into my arms, then shook Calum awake letting him know he was relieved of his babysitting duties. He smiled sleepily, heading to his room quite quickly.

Kicking my door open with Ava stirring slightly in my arms, I found Luke settled soundly under my covers, a smug smile playing on his lips.

"What's that look for Lucas?" I questioned setting Ava on the bed next to Luke.

"Would you like to know what movie I chose?" He laughed slightly looking directly into my eyes.

"No." I sighed knowing what he'd chosen before his mouth could speak the words.

"Oh yes my small child, we are watching it." He laughed pressing play on the remote.

"I hate you Lucas Robert." I grumbled.

The beginning credits began, causing shivers to run down my spine. I hated this movie with a passion and he knew it. He was truly evil.

"Oh come on Luce, Mean Girls is a classic!" He giggled practical jumping with joy at the fact that is actually sit through this film with him.

"Whatever you say." The corners began to upturn despite themselves.

About half way through the movie, Ava started crying hysterically. I hastily scooped her into my arms, which only caused her cries to increase. The moment she saw Luke her wails subsided to silent whimpers.

"Daddy." She began crying, her arms outstretched to Luke.

"No baby, not daddy." I tried my heart breaking at her reaction.

"Daddy!" She wailed again reaching for him once more.

He swiftly scooped her out of my arms, cradling her close to his body. Her sobs instantly stopped, her face taking on a calm, and content expression.

"Daddy." She stated plainly sticking a hand on his cheek, a small smile plastered to her adorable face.

"Yea baby, daddy." He smiled placing his forehead against hers.
