Hello Wattpadders,
June is finally here and it's one of our favorite times of the year: Pride Month!
It's always Pride at Wattpad, but this year we want to create space throughout the month to celebrate the inspiring stories that were #WrittenWithPride. We know we have some of the best stories in the world that represent diverse narratives and characters across the sexuality and gender spectrums from lesbian, gay, bi, queer, and questioning to trans, intersex, aesexual, pansexual, gender-nonbinary, and beyond.
Wattpad is home to over 90 million voices and groundbreaking LGTBQIAP+ stories in every genre, and we're proud to have inclusion and diversity as a key pillar. As many in-person Pride events around the world remain cancelled for the second year in a row, the need to create a virtual space to celebrate is more important than ever.
We know the struggle for equality and representation for the LGTBQIAP+ community continues to this day, which is why uplifting diverse voices and holding space for one another is one of our top priorities. This month, we're honoring all ways our LGBTQIAP+ community supports one another through storytelling. Come join us!
We're planning celebrations all month long, so there will be something for everyone! Our Pride plans will include:
The #WrittenWithPride reading list featuring stories for everyone. It will be updated weekly for the month of June (and monthly for the rest of the year so we can celebrate all year long!) and highlight stories in multiple genres that represent authors and characters across the LGBTQIAP+ spectrum.
Fun activities all month long organized by our Ambassadors over on the LGBTQIAP+ profile page.
Tune in to our #WattpadSpeaks Pride event happening on June 29th from 1pm-2pm EST, featuring indie Wattpad authors Sondi Warner (lesserknown1), Philline Harms (writing00introvert), and Idris Grey (IdrisGrey). The intimate discussion will explore the power of stories about queer identity and representation, and will be hosted by Wattpad staffer Tyler Keating. Register here!
