Ready to multitask your way through your Reading List? Our text-to-speech feature has expanded and is now available on 170,000 stories with more on the way. More stories, accessible to more of our community, and more ways to get your story fix on the go.
Text-to-speech turns the written words of a story into spoken audio, so you can listen instead of read. It's especially helpful for folks with visual impairments or reading challenges-now we can all listen to our favorite reads, because stories are for everyone.
Beyond that, we know the struggle of wanting to stay immersed in bingeworthy stories but not being able to find time to read between classes, work, and late-night scrolling on social, or missing your subway stop because the cliffhanger was just too good not to keep reading. With text-to-speech, you can listen to your faves while you're on the move, couching away, and everything in between.
Ready to give text-to-speech a try? Here's how:
On the Wattpad app:
✨ Go to the Browse tab from the bottom navigation bar
✨ Tap on Tags, enter "texttospeech" in the search bar
✨ The stories in the results will have the feature enabled
On desktop and mobile web:
✨ Enter a story title in the Search bar
✨ Using the Refine by tag filter on the left, select or type "texttospeech"
✨ The stories in the results will have the feature enabled
