Mrs. Lee's POV
I sat on my big chair grabbing my tablet as I scrolled through the business status of the Kims and it would be a lie to say they weren't doing great. Their stocks were high up in the sky. But it also gave me red signs about my son's relationship with Kim Seohyun. Yes, for others she was a great choice. But I wasn't that willing to get my son to marry someone who can barely make time for him.
And looking at Kim Seohyun, I could tell she kept work before everything. I smirked knowing I wasn't going to be the one supporting those two but I needed more proof. That what I think will actually happen.

Heeseung's POV
"Ok I'm done I'll leave now." I quickly closed the file and stood up putting on my coat, excited to meet my girlfriend. Jay nodded fixing the stuffs as my exhausted self gathered all the energy for our date. On my way out, my phone buzzed as I saw the caller ID. "Done with work. I'm on my way." I said out with passion as I started the car but the girl sighed. "I'm sorry I don't think I'll be done any soon." She said out breaking all my hopes and excitement as I quietened down for a minute.
"Oh." Slowly letting it out, I balled my fists wanting to tell her to skip work. "Hey I'm really sorry. I love you and I promise to not skip the next time." She said out trying to make me feel better as I pouted and decided to be the considerate one here. "Alright then. Do remember your promise." I said out as after a while we ended the call. I drove the car to my parents' place since I didn't want to go home again.
"Mommm" I whined tiredly as I lied down on the bed while her lap was my pillow. Closing my eyes, I breathed the air finally feeling better as the elderly woman played with my hair while checking her emails. "How is it with Seohyun?" She said out as I opened my eyes. Maybe telling her would make me feel better. "She's busy with work. I miss her." I told my mother the truth as she stared at me.
"You have work too though." I got her point but that wasn't the thing. For Seohyun, working was something she loved and I didn't want to snatch it from her. "It's fine. I can work with this as long as she's happy." I said out with a genuine smile as my mother sighed standing up confusing me. She just walked outside the room as I laid down properly once again.
Mrs. Lee's POV
Oh how much I wished my prediction would be wrong. But maybe it wasn't. Yes it wasn't. Just like I thought. Staying with Kim Seohyun also meant my son would have to make sacrifices just to make her happy. And it would cause problems in the future. The uneven thing with work they have between them will ruin it all. And I didn't want to see my son feel less important.
I smirked calling the person I had in mind. "Hello." The caller said as I smiled knowing this would end well. "Your daughter might be perfect for my son." I said out as the woman let out a satisfied chuckle. "Yes she will Mrs. Lee." I could imagine the proud look on her face. "See you soon Mrs. Hwang." I cut the call only to see my son deeply asleep.
"I promise I'll get someone better for you Lee Heeseung."

Seohyun's POV
I rang the doorbell holding a single tulip waiting for the door to open. It soon opened as I saw a sleepy Heeseung with messed up hair making me soften seeing his innocent look. "Sorry for that day." I said out placing forward the flower towards him as he chuckled grabbing it. "It's fine." He said out pulling me into a big soft hug as I hugged him back tightly.
"I missed you." Heeseung said out as I looked up at him. "I missed you more." And then hugged him again. And it all felt the same. I was feeling down knowing I couldn't give the guy time but he was always considerate with all these and I loved this thing about him but that didn't stop me from feeling guilty. I still felt bad for not being able to meet up with him just because of work.
The two of us just chilled on the bed watching Netflix as my phone buzzed. I took the call as I heard an unexpected voice. "Kim Seohyun." The deep voice said out sending shivers down my spine as I stood up getting away from Heeseung who was confused. "Mrs. Lee.."
"Let's meet up."
-
I expressionlessly stared at the woman in front of me as she ordered her food without bothering to ask me about it. The waiter left as she drank her water and looked at me. "How's work going on?" I wasn't in the mood to let her beat around the bush for no reason. "What is it Mrs. Lee?" The old woman smirked seeing my quick response as she nodded attentively. "You know my son cares about you a lot."
"I do." I said out as her eyes darkened making me feel nervous. What could it possibly be? What did she want? All the negative thoughts made its ways to my mind as I couldn't stop overthinking. But maybe I wasn't overthinking. "Then leave him before he gets hurt." She said out blankly as I felt someone stab me hard.
"What do you mean?" I furrowed my eyebrows at her as she chuckled before sipping her coffee. "You're possessive about your work Seohyun. You'll never choose him over your work. And you're already proving it." So this is what it is about. "It's not like that Mrs. Lee." I knew this would be a question in our relationship but Heeseung meant a lot to me.
"I don't care. I only want my son to lead a good life. With someone who can give him time. Unlike you." That directly poked my heart as I balled my fists feeling a bit angry receiving her straightforward attitude. "Mrs. Lee you aren't understanding-" but the elderly woman wasn't willing to hear me out even once. "I'm gonna get him married to my friend's daughter." My heart dropped a big low beat hearing it as I felt my breathe getting slower. "What?"
"You know it better than anyone Seohyun. My son is too considerate with everything. He will never go against your work even if it means he'll get less time and attention from you. Meaning it will hurt him. And I don't want it to happen. And I'm hoping you don't want it as well so just listen to me and leave him." I was shocked and I felt my heart breaking hearing her words. I couldn't say a single thing knowing this could be true. Heeseung would never say anything about my work cause he knows what it means to me but it meant he'd hurt himself without saying anything.
"Be the culprit here. Break my son's heart and I'll give him a better lover."
Mrs. Lee clearly said out as I coldly glared at her. "Why would I do that?" The woman mischievously chuckled as I felt her stares getting scarier than ever. "Because you love him. And I bet you also know it better than anyone how powerful I am. One call and your entire industry will fall. Your dad wouldn't like that." My father. She brought up my father. The only reason I didn't give up on being a CEO.
My hands were badly shaking as I stood up not blinking even once. I stared at the ground not being able to meet Heeseung's mother's eyes. Maybe what she said was true indeed. Grabbing my bag, I turned around to leave the place as she took the chance to say one last thing to me.
"Do it soon Kim Seohyun."
