october, 1992

An alarm raced through richie's room, jolting him awake. It took him a while to adjust to his surroundings as he reached for his glasses, sliding them onto his face. Looking over at the alarm, it read 7:15. The boy groaned as he slowly pulled himself out of bed and into the bathroom.

Once dressed, he examined himself in the mirror. He had bags under his eyes, his hawaiian shirt dragging over his slightly short black under shirt. his jeans hardly fit over the bottom of his legs.

He sighed, heading downstairs to slip his trainers on. He knew Beverly would have a snack for him, she always does. Considering she knows how he skips breakfast from waking up late most mornings. It was now 7:45, he knew it'd take at least half an hour to get to school. His school starts at 8:30 so he should be there in time for a quick smoke with bev.

Stepping outside, the crisp air of October met his face. He knew he was underdressed for this weather, considering that the autumn breeze was cold. He didn't mind it though, as he road down his street.

By the time he got to school, it was around 8:28, so he put his bike into the rack round the back of the school and head to his and bevs meet up spot. Of course, she was there, smoking and talking to her boyfriend. Ben has started hanging out with them recently, not that Richie had minded. Ben was nice, so it was all good to him.

"Hey Rich, need one?" The ginger girl asked, holding out a cigarette for him. He smiled lightly at her as he took it, lighting it with the lighter she held out for him in her other hand. He knew it was a risk, teachers being right around the corner and possibly catching him. But he didn't care much, the only trouble he would get in is lunchtime detention.

"So, Ben" he started, looking over at the boy. Ben stopped his conversation with Bev to look over to him. "How's that boy in your chemistry class? The one who always wears those cool band shirts." Richie says, taking in another woft of smoke. There was this boy in Bens chemistry class, 102. Richie can't quite pin his name, evan? no, maybe eric. "Oh, Eddie?" Ben says. Richie just laughs and nods, noting down in his head the boys name. "He's good, i guess. Don't speak to him much. He normally hangs around with that guy Stanley." He continues, then going back to his conversation with Beverly.

Eddie, a normal 15 year old, who Richie can't tear his eyes away from. He doesn't know why, the boy isn't special at all. He wears band t-shirts and hangs around with that uris kid. Richie guesses it's the shirts that he looks at, not Eddies eyes, or the way his curly hair falls against his face.

The bell rings, signalling the three need to head to class. Beverly and Ben say their goodbyes before the boy heads off to the science block, while Richie and Bev head over to the art block. They have miss randol first, a young art teacher who doesn't get payed nearly enough for dealing with the twos shit.

Richie gets sent out in the first twenty minutes, Beverly making fun of him as he put his middle finger up at her through the door. He sat outside for about five minutes, before deciding to wander around. His teacher wouldn't come out for another fifteen minutes or so so he figured it would be fine.

The boy thought him and Ben had became friends so he decided to head to 202 in the science building to annoy him. He climbed up the steps, skipping two at a time out of boredom. His hair was falling slightly over his glasses, reminding him that he needed a haircut. As he turned the corner of the chemistry corridor, he was stunned.

"oh" He says, staring at the boy he had asked Ben about a meer half an hour ago. "It's you."
