It's around just after lunch when Eddie and Richie step outside, into the cold air. The wind blew against their faces as Richie placed his skateboard down on the ground. If he was being honest, he wasn't that great at skateboarding. He'd gotten this for his birthday around two years ago and only practised five times. So he knows this isn't going to end well for him.
As he attempts and fails, he can hear Eddie laughing at him. He's all smiley and won't stop laughing when Richie falls off, or sends the skateboard flying in the opposite direction. His face his red from all the laugher after they walk back into the house. "I thought you said you could skate?" Eddie asks, a playful grin on his face. "I could! i swear." Richie claims, huffing while taking his shoes off. Ashley is in the living room watching some rom-com, telling them both to shut up when they wouldn't stop bickering. They both laugh slightly before heading upstairs.
"I'm just gonna go in there for a minute." Eddie says, pointing at the spare room where he had attempted to sleep last night. He went in there, to see the melatonin gummy's he had taken last night were still out. The truth is, he didn't have a nightmare, he just couldn't sleep again. He was scared, scared of his mother finding him. So he took the gummy's and decided to go into Richies room. And that's how he ended up with the lie so he could sleep in the same room as Richie.
When he enters the boys room again, he sees him on the bed with a notebook, his hair dangling over his shoulders. He's got a black sweater on with matching jeans. He's writing, with a guitar next to him. Eddie grins, closing the door and nearing closer to the boy. He sits down at the chair near the boys desk, making his presence known. Richie looks up at him, adjusting his glasses before getting back to writing. Then he drops the pen, picking up the guitar. Eddie watches, unsure of what the boy is doing. And then he starts playing a few strings, mumbling the words on the paper under his breath.

"Hey Rich," Eddie says, turning his head to face the boy. Richie looks over at him signalling he was listening. "When was the last time you went trick or treating?" He asks, looking back up at the stars again. They're in Richies garden, looking at the stars. Even if it's the middle of the night, Eddie couldn't sleep again so Richie took him out here. "What?" Richie breaths out through a small laugh. Eddie just looks back at him, repeating what he'd just said. "When was the last time you went trick or treating?" Richie thinks back, It was around two years ago. Him and Bev had dressed up as batman and robin. He smiled at the memory, remembering how he and her had stayed up almost all of that night eating candy and watching scary movies. "Around two years ago, me and bev got absolutely wrecked over how many sweets we ate that night." He laughs, sharing the memory with Eddie. The boy laughs, and then goes silent again.
"How about you?" Richie asks, looking over at him. "Hm?" He asks, looking back. "When was the last time you went trick or treating Ed's?" he asked. Eddie just bit his lip, looking away. "I've never been trick or treating." He says, sighing. He looks back over at Richie, who's mouth was open out of shock. He puts his hand to Richies chin, closing his mouth before putting it back on his chest. "My mum, she never let me. Used to say that i would get everyone's germs if i went out and got candy. So i sat inside every year." He said, his voice low. Richie winced for the boy, He loved halloween as a kid. Halloween was one of the only things he looked forward too every year as a kid.
"What if we went trick or treating tomorrow?" He asks, sitting up and looking at Eddie. "Are you crazy?" Eddie asks, looking at him from where he lay. Richie nodded at him, before speaking, "Me and you, we can go trick or treating. We could dress up and everything." He says, smiling. Eddie looks down, fiddling with his hands as he sits up next to Richie. "What would we even dress up as?" He asks. "Easy, we'll just be ghosts or something." He says, grinning at him. Eddie laughs at that, hitting him lightly. "We don't have to Rich, i know we're too old for that." He says, once again fiddling with his hands. Richie grabs his hands, holding them so Eddie doesn't fiddle with them.
"Nonsense." He says, smiling at him. "It doesn't matter how old we are, just that we have fun." He grins when the boy sighs, smiling at him. They head back inside, in only shirts and boxers. They crawl into Richies bed, keeping the light on because that's how Eddie likes it. They slowly fall asleep, both thinking of each other for no reason at all.

"Seriously?" Richie asks, when he walks into the kitchen. Eddie is sitting there, eating cereal while his sister is chatting his ear off. When Eddie looks up at the voice, he looks relived that Richies woken up and saved him from his ear being talked off. He sighs, grabbing the boys arm and dragging him upstairs. "I'm sorry about Ashley," he starts, pulling on a black top, and then putting a leather jacket over the top. He pulls on some jeans all while Eddie watches him, his breath hitching. "She can talk your ear off sometimes." Richie finishes, turning back around to face Eddie. "Go get dressed then, we're going to the costume store." He says, rushing out of the room and into the bathroom to observe his hair in the mirror. Eddie stays frozen for a few more moments, before he walks back into the spare room to get changed.
When he walks back out, Richie is pulling black ankle boots on. Then he looks up at Eddie scanning him up and down. He's wearing a plain Red button up with some navy trousers and his signature trainers. He smiles when Richie stands, messing with his hair again. And then they're on their bikes on the way to the costume store. "Most of the good costumes will probably be sold out since it is halloween day." Richie says, peddling slowly to match with Eddies pace. He just nods, while looking forwards.
When they reach the store, the bell chimes as they open the door. It's a relatively small shop, with costume bags hanging on the walls. "Take a look around, find something you like." Richie says to Eddie, as the boy looks around in awe. He picks out a few outfits, Richie and him laughing. They end up buying a Edward scissor hands costume for Eddie and a clown costume for Richie. The ride back home is much more talkative as they laugh about how hard it's going to be to get the scissors on Eddies hands.
All was good, they were both happy and soon all the Losers would be coming round later that night for halloween and they could have a mini party, just the 7 of them. Richie smiled at the though as they dropped their bikes and walked through the door of his house and went up to Richies room to hang out.
"Well, that was fun." Eddie says, breathing out a short laugh. Richie laughs with him, laying down on his bed. "What do you want to do now?" He hears Eddie ask him. He thinks to himself before answering. "I want to just relax with you before we have to get ready to host the best mini party ever." He grins, facing Eddie. He gets a grin back, making him grin wider.
