Today is the day. I am going to meet my family... meet my dad. Every day that passes with us being in the same town at the same time and having never met... it's torture. Bailey and I step out of the car and both close the door. She offers me a supporting smile and I take a deep breath. She leans against the car while I make my way to the front door. I have dreamed of this moment for centuries.
What if he doesn't like me? What if I'm a disappointment? What if he thinks I'm a freak? I tried to plan what would be a good "hi you're my dad but you didn't know about it and now it's a thousand years later and everyone that connects us is dead" outfit, but how do you even do that? I wear a beige skirt that teaches about mid thigh and a purple blouse that compliments my hair, along with a pair of black flats. I have my hair tied half back and wear a heart necklace I got from one of my fosters a long time ago. I may have went a little overboard on trying to be perfect, but at this point I am just focused on actually knowing on the door this time.
I finally make it up to the door and lift my hand. I knock on the wooden door twice and wait for someone to answer. Damon and Bailey told me I have one aunt and three uncles that all live in the house together. I also have another uncle that is living, but he hates my family and what they are so he runs from them.
Only a few seconds have passed but it feels like hours, so I turn around to walk back to Bailey. Before I can make my way down the steps, the door opens and I hear a females voice.
"Can I help you?" She asks. I turn around and she looks at me confused. "Sorry, sweetheart. We don't want any cookies. Run a long now." I roll my eyes and smirk. She looks at me confused.
"Actually, I'm not selling any cookies. Is Elijah here?" She just cocks her head to the side as if my question is the most confusing thing she's ever heard.
"You look a little too young for Elijah. Are you sure you don't mean Kol?" I grimace at her implication, but this just confuses her more.
"Gross... no... not like that. I'm not his... is he here?" She moves to the side to open the door wider and I see a man walk up to the other side of the doorway.
My breath catches in my throat. It's him. I know it is. He has black hair and he has my eyes and I have his nose and... it's him.
"Can I help you?" He asks in a formal voice. He's going to hate me. I am nothing like him. He's formal and prestige. I'm a gay teenager who dies her hair to express her abandonment issues. I use a cuss word in every sentence and I talk like an uneducated idiot. He is everything I'm not.
"I... you're..." my breathing falters and my heart races as I stand face to face with the man I've been wanting to meet my whole life. "Elijah?" I ask and he simply nods, gaining a bored composer on his face.
A hand grabs a hole of mine and I look to see my love standing next to me. She smiles at me and then turns to my father and aunt.
"Can we come in?" She asks simply and they both nod, confused on why there are two teenage girls standing on their porch. We walk in and I see another man sitting on the couch, reading a book, while another leans against a pillar arguing with someone on the phone. My aunt closes the door behind me and I flinch from the noise. This does not go unnoticed by all of the original vampires in my presence and I gulp.
